Suggestions please - for beginner IM course

Hello,

I'm currently creating an internet marketing course for absolute beginners. The course will be free and will consist of a series of non-jargon videos that walk people through the basics (and advanced strategies) of starting an online business.

I've been retired (thanks to internet marketing) for just over 11 years so I have lots of experience of what does and doesn't work.

I plan on recording lessons that go into the practical side a business, such as creating payment buttons, using FTP, making a clickbank account etc. as well as lessons that cover the side of the business that most people often neglect... such as how to discipline yourself to actually work without a boss or a deadline, how to develop the correct mindset and how to deal with the social shock of not going to work anymore.

The aim of the course is to provide a total beginner with everything they need to get started online successfully. Without any confusing jargon or tech speak.

So... what I'd like to ask from you guys is for you to suggest things that I should cover. If you can post any suggestions or questions etc in this thread or send them to me via instant message that would be very much appreciated.

Think about the things that you had trouble with when you first started out online. It doesn't matter how basic or complex they are, all suggestions have value and your suggestion may help someone to realise their dream of financial freedom.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

One thing you might consider is a chapter on 'Business".

I believe the biggest downfall of IMers is a lack of how to run a business.

I agree, no doubt there are a couple of free videos covering this, so studying what they cover and doing ones, that cover important stuff the freebies don't would be a good idea!

So as Icombs has said, cover the typical newbie questions!

      • Like, how do l make money fast.

      • What is the easiest and quickest way to make money fast.

      • Which is the best area to start to blah, blah!

Obviously you can direct them in the right direction, and let them down gently, so they won't do a runner!

When you tell a newbie how long it might take, they usually do a runner for the next shiny object, or ask some more questions.

I have been at this for 6 years, and am on the verge of hitting the jackpot, but it has taken me 6 years of hard work, and seriously big failure.

Things newbie may not want to hear?

Since you have been at this for longer than l have, l am sure you will know the good areas to start.

But try to give advise on what was the easiest and most likely area that will be profitable.

Or offer the next best thing and offer the best thing you have as an upsell?

Giving advise on writing articles, is probably a good way to lose prospects and damage your long term membership for example.

But anyway hope that l have helped!

Unfortunately, the stuff people need to be successful is not the stuff they want.

Lots of people think Internet marketing is some sort of trick or system or program that magically puts money in your bank account while you do nothing other than count it. It's only after months and even years of trying all the Ninja secrets nonsense and 'done for you' BS that they even begin to notice it's about business.

You'll get some takers with a straight course but not nearly as many as you'd get making big promises that would be near impossible to keep. Sad but true.

If it were me, I would go to the Main Forum and take note of the threads with over 1,000 Views. This will give you an idea of what people are searching for.

Then I would do the same on the other forums. You might have to tweak the "Views" number a bit but you will get an idea of what people are interested in.

Have a short chapter on the proper attitudes necessary for IM success. I think that will help the average newbie a lot.
