So recently I found out about Dogecoin and started mining it for fun. And after about three days I now have over 20000 DOGE.
(which currently is $11.24.)

What's everyone's thoughts on Dogecoin? Seems to be Bitcoin, but more funny, and I'm ok with that.

You clearly must have read the op and seen bla, bla, bla, bla bla bla, bla, because he clearly states that he has been mining them for three days.

P.S. don't post just to post, understand what you are reading before replying.

He may of meant "trying it" in terms of buying products/services with it.

The phrase "get rich quick" applies to investments as well as Internet marketing where nearly all of the current successful people will tell you that chasing success in this way is NOT how they made their money.

You can bet with all of the media and hype that bitcoin is getting that there are going to be a ton of copy cat digital currencies popping up all over.

Some legit, and alot will probably be scams.

People are definately going to have to do their due dilligence.

Great time to buy dogecoin, bought a bunch myself. It just came out and it grew 400%, biggest altcoin gain. It's pretty fun to watch and dirt cheap at the moment. I think it has the potential to blow up in asian markets with the memes they use. If it were to do that, then off to the moon!

Dogecoin could become a viable risk arbitrage coin against Bitcoin & Litecoin in 2014, however, The Doge is not in the dog race to become a majime (serious) coin.

One major problem in Crypto forex is risk management because anomalous events (news items & regulators) impact the price immediately and dramatically. It is akin to Federal Reserve pronouncements. You gotta be Quick on the Draw McDraw to profit and only the algorithmos consistently do so. Prudent traders don't trade the news.

At this juncture, there are apparently 3 ways to make monetary muscle with Cryptocurrency. In the reverse order of preference: 1) mining: as you know, various coins with different crypto algorithms are easier or harder to mine using CPUs, GPU/or ASIC rigs. Bitcoins require ASIC rigs, application specific integrated chips). Think calculators and the cost of electricity.

Peers, Warriors, Comrades, lend me your eyes, you need beaucoup fiat to mine Bitcoins and/or invest bucks to join mining syndicates or cloud Bitcoin mining.
The trade off is Bitcoin Blockchain is now mega secure and fairly safe from double spend attacks. Dogecoin is Nyet/Not.

Litecoin is a reasonable coin and the Doge is based on the same architecture. Good for arbitrage but not much else at this moment.

The second way to make moolah is innovation in wallets or exchanges. Doable but problematic as you need code and regulatory shenanigans. In either case you will need to form a team because Armory, Coinbase and Bitpay (for payments to merchants) are pack leaders).

This leaves the 3rd way (or the road less traveled if you are a Robert Frost fan) the dross or the gold depending on your tenacity and affinity for Isaac A.

Discover the Bitcoin Blockchain Protocol. Mastercoin offers avenues into Smart Contracts & Smart Property on top of the Bitcoin Blockchain. Innovation is not confined to Invictus Innovations. The land of cryptocoins is diverse but not per verse. Neurons signal to dendrites.
If you are tired of 'moi aussi' a.k.a. me too-ism I suggest you get-up-to-snuff on crypto, cypertite, mega, Snowden et al plus the relevant explanations on Khan Academy.

Every Warrior Forum Product must have a Bitcoin Payment Button in 2014!

    Stay tuned.

Yeah im right into crypto at the moment.

I have pretty much stopped all forms of on-line marketing and sold everything I had and invested in crypto.

Cryptocurrency like any investment is a risk. You try to limit your risk and find potential winners.

I like Doge and am fully backing it for a couple of reasons.

1, Small buy in. You can currently buy a million Doge for between $300-$400 even though market value is only worth $240 there are service fees, people want to make a buck and they can if you don't have an account with one of the excahanges and some BTC to exchange in return for Doge. If anyone wants to know where to buy PM me.

      2. Low risk. Based on the value, future supply, current market cap it can only do one of two things go up or die. To me that says one thing. Low risk. So if you invest what you can afford to lose then you could potentially make a bit of money depending on how high it eventually goes.

      3. The marketing. Doge easily has the best viral marketing of all of the cryptocoins and IMHO even better than the new Kanye West coin, Coinye. The perfect example is this thread. There are many coins (around 70) and none have had as much publicity as Dogecoin has in such a small amount of time. Remember that Dogecoin is only one month young.

      4. Community. Because of the clever marketing Doge has amassed a massive community behind it. In fact an almost cult like community. lol. Where you have people you have power. Plain and simple.

      5. Development and infrastructure. Many of the coins lack the necessary infrastructure and ongoing developments to push forward. Because of Doges massive community there are many people working on many applications and developments which are adding to the critical infrastructure that a cryptocoin needs to grow.

If you want to jump head first into cryptocurrency I highly recommend Dogecoin (hence my sig).

      such profits

Yes I recently purchased about $1600 worth of DOGE, money coming partly from profits made recently buying and selling BTC. I am greedily hoping for a surge in price driven by people keen to try it out and using it for tipping or speculation.

I realise it is a BET. I could lose it. This is like a hand in poker. You play for positive expectation. But you can always lose.

Still I think it will pay off better than the same amount spent on a solo ad, course, or website from Flippa.com, based on my experiences anyway. :p

With mining the 3 days is how long it takes the computer to generate the coins to make that $11. In the meantime you are free to do whatever you like e.g. sit on a beach.

Better hardware can get you to hundreds a day although you will have some electric bills to pay, and you need to pay off the cost of the hardware.

Whether dogecoin will become a viable currency like bitcoin or not, that is a different thing, because there are so many better coins, but I am sure some people will make a lot of money from dogecoin because its going viral. They recenly donated dogecoin to Indian Olympic team, good job

Bitcoin a "viable currency?" You live in Never Never Land.

If it's a viable currency, try to pay the mortgage with it, try to buy groceries with it, try to exchange it at your local bank for dollars. You will then finally understand just how "viable" Bitcoin is as a currency.

If it's really a sure thing, I challenge you to take all your money, sell all your assets, and invest in "dogecoin" the sure thing. Then let us know how that worked out a few weeks, months, and years down the road.

Well bitcoin is mainly currency of the internet,I don't know about mortgage but you sure can buy groceries with bitcoin.Hundreds of merchants accept bitcoin as payment and hundreds more will accept it in near future.Overstock.com has recently agreed to receive payments with bitcoin.Anyways I was just trying to say that Dogecoin might not reach the level of bitcoin as a currency but you might still get a good return from it in short term.

Yes you are right, nothing in life is 100% sure, but after seeing the marketing behind dogecoin and how it's becoming viral, there is a good chance that Dogecoin will give good R.O.I at least for one or two coming years.I might be wrong though.

A bit insulting tone to your post, overall, IMO. That haughtiness and laughing at folks that you are doing would work out a bit better for ya - were you not so wrong.

If it's a viable currency, try to pay the mortgage with it, try to buy groceries with it, try to exchange it at your local bank for dollars. You will then finally understand just how "viable" Bitcoin is as a currency.
Are you telling our friends across the pond that their pound is not a viable currency? Or the Deutchemark, Franc, etc.? Steve, see if you can get someone here to send you a pound and then:

Take it to your local neighborhood bank and ask them to exchange it for US dollars. Good luck with that at your average U.S. bank.

Take that British pound to your local grocery store and try to buy something with it. Good luck wit that.

Throw some British pounds in your monthly mortgage payment and see if your mortgage holder accepts that payment. Good luck with that and get ready to live out of your car if you try that too many months in a row.

So, by your definition, the British pound is not a viable currency, eh?

People and companies ARE accepting crypto-currencies in exchange for goods and services. It is being used as a viable currency by some. Just like the British pound is used as a viable currency for some.

Now, maybe you don't think it is sustainable, will pick up steam for more use, etc., but, it is a viable currency, being used right now, as you read this, in exchange for a good or service.

YOU don't set the definition for what a viable currency is - the seller does; and there are plenty of sellers out there to show that your statement is incorrect.

If it's really a sure thing, I challenge you to take all your money, sell all your assets, and invest in "dogecoin" the sure thing. Then let us know how that worked out a few weeks, months, and years down the road.
Now you're just twisting someone's words a bit and being absurd in your all-or-nothing suggestion to lend yourself some credibility and prove your point ...

How does someone so vehemently refuse to accept the possibility of change, then turn around and state that "the only thing certain in life is change". It most certainly is, and the ways we trade for goods and services are not immune to that anecdote. Bitcoin is rapidly moving towards that change. Retailers are already beginning to adopt it as a payment method. Cryptocurrencies are here to stay,in one form or another, and Bitcoin is the most likely to retain that position as cryptocurrency of choice.

check out the current value of bitcoin on this site : https://www.mtgox.com/
it is traded as a commodity on exchanges and at the time of me writing this comment
1 Bitcoin currently sells for between $585.00 on high to $479.92 on low so if you had 1000 bitcoins then you could sell them and pay off whats left on your morgage in one shot

Reddit Community is about to hit 50k subscribers, half of what bitcoin has that took 5 years to get. The community is insane and nothing like I have seen trying to get it in games and talking to celebrities and investment companies and everything else you can think of.

Dogecoin is pretty big, no doubt. In fact right now it's the #6 highest market cap for altcoins at a little over $55 million. Not bad. I do think that it could catch on, but don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

I have Bitcoin, Litecoin, Quark and some others. It's the other coins that are making me the most money, too. Like any good investment, it pays to diversify.

I started mining Doge a few days ago. My computer is almost always on anyways so I figured I might as well do something with it. I don't run the mining software very hard so it's not really costing me anything to do it, and may be worth it one day if they really take off.

I have def been considering investing into dogecoins - ive been following the reddit revolution on the subject haha 25k followers on the reddit page, like wtf where did this currency come from? started as a joke - was hacked early even, but now back better than ever...
They are a pain in the a$$ to get though, have to acquire and trade through bit/litecoin unless your mining

I strongly recommend investing in Vertcoin (VTC), it rised +420% today.
    Dogecoin fell -4%.

VTC is coming soon on Cryptsy, once VTC is added, the price will go crazy..

You can invest whatever you want, I'm just sharing a tip

In two weeks time, it will become significantly harder to mine dogecoin, which means there will be fewer dogecoins on the market. This usually leads to an increase in value, but only if people are still interested in it, and want to buy.

They just announced dogecoin will not be capped at 100 billion which will allow for inflation due to lost wallets and hoarders.

IMHO and from what I have read there will be more changes to come in the blockchain and source code. They are taking things one paw at a time. Lol. Smart decision IMO as it keeps the network humming away and keeps the miners looking for coins.

Also Doge is taking off as the Internets tipping platform of choice. The warrior forum keeps deleting anything I post in relation to Dogecoin and tipping (at last count they deleted two threads the first was in the main section so after they deleted that I posted a similar one in the offtopic and they deletd that one too) so im betting they will delete this post or thread now. I am really unsure why they are threatened by something which is revolutionizing the web as we know it...

I bought about 100K in dogecoins. Hopefully it will go up.

You can buy them on ebay right now but prices seem a little high. Do not pay more than $2 per 1K.

You can also buy dogecoins on doges.org but be careful who you deal with. I purchase from sellers that have over 20 positive feedbacks. You can get 1K for $1.50 right now.

Yeah I have purchased from eBay too when I couldn't buy from elsewhere.

I also have a buyer I regularly go to now which I found on reddit.

But am since now opening an account with Vault of Satoshi so I can buy direct via the exchange.

I'm also thinking of buying a Mac Pro as a personal computer and since it is so powerful I may do some mining with it when im not using it such as over night while I sleep since I blew one of my old laptops mining previously as it wasnt made for it lol (warning to others)

I wouldnt recommend hoarding your coins in the hope it "goes up". Use your coins to tip, give them away to people who are new to doge, pay for games, donate via the foundation to support charities, development projects and infrastructure as well as marketing.

If everyone hoards in the hope it will "go up" it wont go no where. I would consider anyone that recommends to hoard to go and learn a little more about crypto and especially dogecoin (even if that information comes from a wso, just sayin...)

Not saying thats what your doing but just a gut feel i get because you have 100K I have lets just say a fair few now and have been donating regularly, tipping as well as bringing in some of my friends and family and giving them some doge to start them off.

If anyone reading this is new to it and wants some > post your addy here or PM me telling me why you came to doge, how you heard about it, what you think will come of it in the near future, how you plan to use your doges or ideas you have for it and ill send you each 1K dogecoin (max 10K)

Yeah but you guys have to understand that Ð should not just be purchased as some sort of investment because if so then it will meet its doom. Ðoge should be be used to transact with e.g. tipping, purchased, give away's, infrastructure, charities etc.

I still have some more to give away. So far only had 2 PM's

For a knockoff, Doge did want no other crypto before it, nor after has ever done: Ride on the success of a viral meme that existed years prior to the altcoin, itself. Other meme / niche-specific attempts have been made (i.e. Sexcoin, Kittehcoin / MEOW, etc.).

But alas... even combined, they barely even begin to scratch the popularity of the mighty Doge. Simply brilliant marketing to be sure. To the moon!

I go direct to sellers I know and have met on IRC or Reddit, but most recently use sites like Buy and Sell Dogecoin UK with GBP and other currency | instant payout | Doge for sale. Also I have an account with Vault of Satoshi but the process for getting setup to buy sell and trade with USD is kind of long as its more setup for trade. VOS recently shut their doors to US customers though... you can also go to this Google drive doc and see what they have on offer for other sites where you can buy https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...mgmHdqTV4/edit

Cryptsy is not setup for USD/Doge as far as I am aware. Its for currency trading between the currencies and BTC/LTC.

Once again, Love Love Love the haters!!! I posted in this thread on Dec 25th and it's exploded since then while everyone laughed it off, keep thinking it's a joke while we roll in it. Nowhere but up, with occasional dips in the pool to cool off.

Like above said, Op's original price for 20k was $11.24 which is now $35, not bad for a joke.

I heard about it. It's funny and it seems to be increasing in value pretty quickly so it wouldn't hurt to mine and stash some.

Bitcoin went from $80 to $900+ in just a couple of years. If Dogcoin grows that fast I am sure you would be happy that you invested in some when it was cheap.

Recently Ðogecoin has released a tipping app on facebook and now there is also talk of a wordpress tipping app to be released.

Can you imagine having an one account across all wordpress blogs and websites where you can tip the authors, owners and commentators directly! This will revolutionize the way we consume and create content and hopefully reduce the need for ads.

All you have to do is go to Reddit to see what goes on in the Ðogecoin world on the daily and see how much fun we have, how much good we do, how often we give to charity, support others all the while growing the currency > dogecoin

My co-worker, who is heavy into mining doge, told me that recently some dude bought about a million dollars worth of Bitcoin. He said for some reason Bitcoin dropped to $100 for 3 minutes and then shot back up to $500 or so. Dang...why did he tell me that...ticked me off because I missed that window.

He also said they now have USB sticks out now where you can use to mine Doge. He bought ten of then and offered to sell me one for $90. When he went to buy more the seller wanted to raise the price. Go figger.

Yeah and that is exactly the mentality people should have.

Treat it like any other financial investment. Only invest what you can afford to lose.

My opinion is that Ðogecoin will easily hit 0.10c.

Some people are saying $1, $5 and all sorts of things.

The normal way a market works is supply and demand and it is no different to CC's.

Ðogecoin has lots of demand, but it also has lots of supply so hence the low price (currently). But then you have all of the factors that create demand and supply.

Supply - they have sorted out the solution with their last forking to an additional 5 billion inflationary coins per year and the miners will take care of the rest. But then you have things like the perceived value of the coin itself and how you market that value in mass media in order to create buyer volume.

They have no problem on the media front and in terms of the coins perceived value > This is where the next phases are all around the use of the coin and this is one that is unique about Ðogecoin as compared with other 'successful' coins. To me personally what is going on now with CC's and their actual "uses" is more exciting that the prospect of making it rain money.

You have to understand that like gold or silver or anything that has a perceived value, cryptocurrencies naturally require a use. Unlike fiat currencies that have no use other than trade and exchange and where built and designed as a state currency to be traded with and exchanged.

For example you cant take a paper bill and make something with it like you can with gold.

But with cryptocurrency we have seen a need for use and not just in terms of trade or exchange. Recent examples include Solar coin and Cure coin.

These coins have set out to use the now well researched and verified ideas of human incentive driven problem solving with machines and started to think of other problems that they can task machines with. It's absolutely brilliant once you think about it.

So where I am going with this is that there are all sorts of "uses" for these coins and you will see them infiltrate every area of society in the coming years and positively affect human society.

Ðogecoin itself solves a different problem and is set out to have a very unique "use" and that use has all got to do with the Internet.

How we consume and pay for content, what we give real value to online and how we exchange that value.

My opinion is your going to see Ðogecoin and it's tipping architecture literally shake up the world of advertising in online content driven media.

      Watch this space.
