My New Year's Resolutions

Hello, fellow warriors.

We are closing in on the new year and for a while now, I have been thinking about what would make 2014 better for me. Here is what I will do; in fact, I have already begun.

The first thing is, I will unsubscribe from all lists that are a waste of my time. As it turns out, that's most of them. This includes the superstars, the well-regarded marketers, the ones who know a lot more than I do. Why? I have gone through their emails to me, only to find that they are not providing enough value. Countless emails come into the inbox and the vast majority of them are selling something.

I get it. I get that marketers market stuff. I also get that, no matter what they say, most of them do not care if I succeed. They care that they do. That said, there are a handful of folks who consistently give me useful tips without telling me how dumb I would be if I failed to take them up on their ebook, course and, of course, coaching. ("I don't know when I'll be offering this again, so jump on it now!! I can only take the first 10 people.") I will stay on these few lists and will recommend them when I can.

In addition, I won't be buying anything from anyone. I know your product is incredible. I know you make $100,000/month, I know that no one but you wants me to know the truth. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll get by. Even if I'm not successful, the worst that will happen is that I will still have the money that would have gone to you.

I'm serious. There is a lot of great information on this forum and all around the internet. This is the year that I will use these resources exclusively. And here's what else I will do.
I will periodically post what I am doing and how I am doing it right here on the forum.

Happy New Year to all and may you have much success in the year to come.

Jan

Great post Jan. Happy New Year to you too.

I totally agree with you and I am also a part of those lists too that just send promotion. The next shiny object is available every day on my inbox. I think it all comes down to self discipline and it helps a lot if you unsubscribe from all those lists that do not provide any value.

The best thing is to have the right mindset and focus on one thing. You can find a lot of information for free available in Goggle and also on the forum.

Lets get the blinders down for 2014 and make it a success for yourself.

All the best in your IM journey.

  • I am personally done with New Year resolutions. Every year I make a new one, and every year something comes by along the way that diverts my attention somewhere else.

So, no... This year I will NOT lose 10 pounds. This year I will NOT force myself to take weekends off. This year I will NOT take my kid to Disneyland. And, above all, this year I will NOT try to put in less than 40 hours a week into my business!

Aahhhh... I feel much better now

Anonymous: Not even Disneyland? Maybe that's excessive

    Here's mine:
    1. will not buy any new domain unless it is badly needed.
    2. will not renew more than half of my useless domains
    3. will focus only on 2 of my CB authority sites and will put more effort in SEO
    4. will not buy any new product related to money making online
    5. will re-fresh my membership in more than a hundred forums for promotion purposes
    6. will create my own product in the middle of this year based on experience (non-money making related product)

and lastly, will be more consistent with my online activities....

This is excellent and I agree with everything you said. I need to focus on only one or two things and stop spreading myself so thin.

Good for you, Vishwa. Having a specific goal is much better than heading in 10 different directions at once. Much success.

I know how it feels to be so lost not seeing results because I myself wonder, "how are other people succeeding but not me?" I know you want to be able to see results and I believe that you can achieve whatever it is that you want. Seek Jesus and HE will solve all of your problems, nothing else will. God Bless.

Very very good post, Jan. And, as a marketer, something I will take to heart.

Oh, and the IM crowd isn't my niche. But smart advice anyway.
