There seems to be a trend towards fewer "Is It Dead" threads. Is "dead" dying? Will there be fewer, Are "Is video marketing/SEO/social media/article-marketing/press-releases dead?" threads dead?

    I've noticed this too Thunderbird.

    It's disconcerting at best.

Mind you I rarely visit the the main forum where most of them live. I remember once seeing a screen shot someone had taken and there were about 8 "is it dead" threads all near the top of the forum at the same time.

I take it you read my response in the "Is the internet dying?" thread?

Oh well, hopefully you have reached the height of dead threads by asking if dead is in fact dead.

Is dead dead? We can only hope so. Dead and gone.

I can tell you there is one stream of money making that is really in deep trouble but is rarely mentioned at all. That is link selling, especially that based on PR. There were a couple of PR updates in December that devastated the inventory of probably every large link broker and link seller. One link broker went as far as to ban users of Google Chrome from using their site. A link broker sent me a list of 3000 PR1 to PR9 sites and he was almost completely wiped out in December.

Unless there is an agreement among link brokers and sellers not to use PR to price a link, then there is absolutely no hope for a near or middle term rebound.

Friedich Hegel wrote of a paradox, "The only thing we learn from history is we learn nothing from history."

It's probable it will cycle again.

Tactics die as weapons become obsolete. However, the strategies used by Napoleon, Sun Tzu, And Alexander the Great can still be used by the modern day battlefield commander.

We had the death of the sword, which was replaced by the musket, which in turn was replaced by the battle rifle.

If the person is really trying to ask if they need to upgrade their weapons of marketing warfare, then the question (or comment) is valid. In my humble opinion anyway.

The problem is knowing the difference, and being able to identify, tactical weapons and strategic weapons.
