I was hoping I could ask the people of this forum a couple of Q's that would really help me out with a project I am doing for university.
I am a business and accountancy student and the project is an investigation into areas of business that have emerged as a result of the rise of the internet. (It' a pretty broad topic!) But while everybody else seems to be focusing on online banking and e-commerce systems, I have decided to look at it from a different angle: internet marketing. I've done the research into the various aspects of this field and have a basic understanding of what is involved i.e. - social media, seo, email, affiliates, ppc etc. So I have an overview of the actual work that internet marketers do, so now what I need to research are the "nuts and bolts" of internet marketing companies! I am thinking of devising a quick survey, basically asking about type of company you own/work for, what area you specialize in, if you own or manage a company do you hire employee's/contractors, types of expenses that are incurred/main sources of revenue, and some questions about how companies keep their financial records up to date. Would it be ok to post this survey and ask for responses? If so, would there be any areas that people may be reluctant to talk about and should therefore leave off? The main areas of concern are self employed internet marketers and their relationship with outside contractors, or whether they work for companies, and if so, how many people work with them and the various roles there colleagues might have in the company.
If the results are of interest to the people of this forum I will happily post them when the analysis is done. It could make for interesting reading!
