Help with Website Issue

I woke up this morning and checked my Google Analytics on my website for yesterday and there were about 200 more visitors than usual. Normally I would be happy. However, upon looking at things a little closer it appears that most of the visitors are trying to access my Wordpress login page. Is this something that is common with hackers? I have WordFence installed but not sure if this will help. Also, since this so called attack or whatever started yesterday I have had zero sales on the website.

Any suggestions as to what this could be, how to stop it, or what else to do?

If you look at wordfence.com, you'll see their announcement of a rather large distributed brute force attack on WP sites. It's slowed down a lot globally, but that doesn't help if you're the one they're currently focused on.

As far as being common, it varies. I can go for a couple of weeks sometimes without seeing any of my blogs getting hit with those, and then have a bot take an interest and see 30 or 40 lockouts in a day. If you look at the WP environment as a whole, yeah. It's an ongoing and common problem. Not like the past couple of days, but still annoying.

Just make sure to change your password and make it longer using characters and numbers.

Thanks for the response. It makes sense now as I still see it happening on the website. However, since this has started my sales have become non-existent.

      Related or coincidental?

They do this wth a LOT of programs, ESPECIALLY popular ones or ones they feel they can use in some way. Wordpress, then, is a VERY good example. Try looking at your website logs, and you might see a lot of OBVIOUSLY faked URLs, to try to cause your site to crash, give access, or give data.

You better try checking for the IP address, City, Country etc. for those visits to login page, simply if they are mostly originated from identical location & systems, then its surely a Hacker and this way you can even get better info about him.

However, I prefer changing my password atleast monthly to be on safe side.
