Well, all I can say at this point is;

True to past performance, Mike-boy Brown has done it again.

He kept Marvin Lewis and let the REAL coach responsible for the Bungles success, Mike Zimmer, go.
He's now the head coach of the Vikings.
And, Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden is now the head coach of the Redskins.

I expect the Bungles to be lucky to go 8 & 8.

Only Mike Brown would fire Forrest Gregg and Sam wyche and keep Marvin Lewis.

I don't understand why you keep dogging out Marvin.

After a 20 year drought, your Bengals are no longer the bungles and Marvin is the coach who brought the stability to your franchise.

    That should count for something.

They have a real chance of making the playoffs each year (two years in a row - I think) and that's all any NFL fan should demand from their team - especially a team with the history of the Bengals.

One if these years, everything is going to fall in place and the Bengals are going to the Super Bowl again.

    BTW...

I'm going to enjoy watching RG3 throwing to Deshawn Jackson every Sunday. They're not my team but I must watch them almost every week.

I've been with the Colts since 66.

I thought my Bucs made a good move this year in hiring Lovie Smith as the new head coach.
Him and the new G.M. have made some good moves in free agency, beefing up both the O and D lines.
It looks like he's bringing back the defense we had during the Dungy years.

My Seahawks SHALL rule again....but my Arizona Cardinals are on the rise. I'm not as much of an NFL guy as I am college, though. Still, I like it all.

I knew someone would say that, I just didn't know who it would be.

        Word 1: Go (used twice)
        Word 2: Pack

Of course, you're right too. It's all in how you interpret my meaning. It's baseball season, you have to watch out for the curveballs.

          Yep. :-)

I used to root for the Pack when Favre was the QB, but as an Oregon Duck fan, I don't care for Aaron Rodgers. I respect his talent, though. He's one of the top-5, maybe top-3 Qb's in the league.

    FYI...

Let me go on the public record and declare that my Colts will make the playoffs again this year.

Should the PAT be harder to accomplish or should it stay the same along with the two point attempt?

That's a really good question. There's a part of me that would like to see the change just to shake things up a bit. On the other hand, the bigger part of me says to leave the game alone, at least for awhile.

What Rodgers went through when he took over for Favre showed a lot of character. He earned my respect for that before he ever started a game for the Packers. The fact that he's one heckuva good quarterback just makes it that much better.

I'm something of a traditionalist when it comes to the fundamentals, so I don't want to see any changes. I'm more agreeable to changes if it involves player safety, but this one has little to do with that issue.

      How about you?

One part of me says if a team scores a touchdown the extra point shouldn't be all that hard to add on.

But another part of me wants a play from scrimmage - from the 2 1/2 yard line for a single point and a play from the 5 yard line for a two point conversion. (No 3 point conversions)

If that happened every PAT would be quite an adventure for everyone involved and would bring a whole lot more excitement into each game.

        But...

With every American football game, everyone can already be on the edge of their seats on every play - every 30 seconds - over 140 times a game with plenty of finger nail biting opportunities.

The same can be said for basketball and baseball, we can get our shot of excitement every 30 seconds but of course everything depends on how interested a person is in the game they're watching.

But a new PAT would bring a bunch of extra exciting moments IMHO since the 1 point PAT is a given in the pro and college game nowadays.

I can live with things the way they are but there was a time when the NFL did not have the two point PAT either.

I would not mind if new PAT rules - from scrimmage were tried for a season.

Not quite. There were 4 missed PAT's in the NFL last year.

Source: 2013 NFL Team Kicking Stats - National Football League - ESPN

There were 13 misses in 2007 (misses include blocked attempts). I didn't check college stats, but I would guess there are more misses than in the pros. Here are some more interesting stats:

From the 1990 to 2011 seasons, 22 seasons in total, there were 23,684 extra point attempts during the regular season. Of these, a total of 23,325 were successfully made for a league wide extra point efficiency rating of 98.48%.

In total, only 359 times has a kicker missed the point after touchdowns. Breaking this number down further, we found that 103 were blocked while kickers missed 256 straight out.

Source: How Many Extra Point Kicks are Missed on Average in the NFL? - SportingCharts.com

For me, that's enough misses to keep it interesting, but I understand wanting more excitement, too.
