Are you sitting behind your computer all day?

You need to get out and do some exercise!

Remember Rome wasn't built in a day and all the money in the world won't be enough to replace your health.

Don't foget to exercise for at least 30 mins a day.

I take your point. I have been exercising by pushing my vacuum cleaner this morning. I feel better and the house looks tidier too. When I feel brain fog come over me I do a little housework (hey you men, housework can be quite a lot of exercise you know) to some uplifting music and feel better afterwards.

Other than that does walking to the car count?

        Great post!

This inspired me to get off my ass straight away! I've just been on a 40 min bike ride pushing myself all the way. My heads pounding, my legs feel like jelly, but i feel great. Now I really should get on with some work!

Wait...I think I just used exercise an an excuse to procrastinate for another hour...DOH!

So true! I find some of my best ideas have come to me while out walking around in the sunshine. Plus sunlight provides you with vitamin D, the chemical that makes you happy

Definitely!! Sitting too long in front of my pc get my brain frozen. My eyes are wide open and yet I am just surfing around literally doing nothing.

But when I'm fresh, with enough sleep and excercise, it's really possible to finish up an article within 30 minutes. (on a subject that I know). But when I'm tired, I can even get myself started..

I'm down 85 pounds since last July through average of 30 minutes per day of exercise plus a reasonable change in diet.

I'm in the best shape I've been in since High School.

Sitting 14-18 hours in front of your computer is a quick path to poor health. I know... I was there.

I'm down 20 pounds since I've joined the gym a couple of months ago. This sedentary lifestyle really gets you if you're not careful. Although I kind of get sucked into whatever I'm doing throughout the day. I only exercise at 5:00 am and then I'm on the internet for the rest of the day. mmm.. I deff needed that reminder.

                Step I

After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your head away and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This changes the focal length of your eye, a must-do for the tired eye.

                Step II

Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moist it.

                Step III

Walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.

                Cheers,
                Anup

I do weight lifting and cardio, I come home so much more energized and productive, it's great. I get in such a cruddy, mediocre mood if I don't. Try it out!

It helps even more if you exercise first thing in the morning before you eat and if you get some exposure to natural sunlight (directly or indirectly) while you're doing it.

Short exercise whenever you get up from the computer helps enormously too.

      Kindest regards,

30 minutes is not enough. Well, not for me anyway. I have to get at least 1 hr to 1 1/2 hours of exercise in a day to make sure that my rear doesn't stick to my computer chair.

Drinking lots of water helps also. Going to the restroom every hour on the hour will ensure that you take breaks.

When I was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease I researched the causes.
The number one cause? Prolonged sitting.
After I had back surgery for it the doctor told me one exercise to do, walk, a lot. Five years later and more miles walking then I can count I'm doing everything I used to do and more, except for prolonged sitting

Well, for the past 3 months, my gym owner has been the happiest person on the planet. I have visited his gym thrice only to pay the fees so that I don't lose my membership .

But I am beginning to get bored with weight training...would like to do something that is fun too (no offense to my fellow gym rats here!) Anyone tried Krav Maga, heard its a great cardio workout besides being a self defense art?
