James Hellwig, The Ultimate Warrior, passes at 54:

WWE says The Ultimate Warrior dead at 54

I haven't watched "wrestling" in many years, but The Ultimate Warrior was always one of my favorites.

Rest in peace, Warrior.

Quoteth the Warrior just a few days ago:
No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own," he told the crowd. "Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that's larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers -- by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him, and make the running the man did live forever.

I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever.

Sure, it's hokey and fake and nonsensical. Wrestling is more vaudeville than sports. But that quote made me shed a couple tears.

Yeah, I remember him too. His rants were a thing of legend. It was like listening to Gary Busey on Crack. But I loved every minute of it.

These guys were always larger than life to me. Anyone on stage was larger than life to me.

They would come out looking like Heroes, and Demons, and Warriors, and Cowboys, and Gods.

Every match was "Life and Death". Every speech was "the last straw", and there were the constant revenge matches.....

It was America VS Nazis, Shouts of USA! USA! Taunting the audience. Declaring war! Doing impossible stunts, flying through the air, and with one last gasp...winning the match for all of us.

I know wrestling is still here. But I remember not knowing it was a show, and thinking every hit was real. It was amazing.

I watched the HOF (on the WWE Network), Wrestlemania 30, and then saw his brief speech on RAW.

And the next day, he passed away. It was a shock in my opinion! Bu his spirit as a Warrior lives on!
