Which do you prefer? I like desktops because I need gaming graphics sometimes. Also, I'm not interested in carrying around a computer with me 24/7. Nonetheless, it would be nice to have a small extra laptop for special occasions (long trips etc..)

Honestly, I love desktop computers. I use an Ipad that facilitates my mobile need for a computer. The desktop allows me the power I need for graphic processing and so forth, and I can also upgrade it as time goes along.

I totally agree. The upgrading power makes it worth it to get a desktop.

According to my point of view, laptop is better than desktop. Laptop computers are extremely portable and permit you to use your computer almost everywhere.

I preferred laptops, they are handy and ready to go gadget. Nowadays they choose laptops even they are too expensive rather than desktop because of big help to others specially to the students. Desktops are way better when you are staying at home and using it for gaming purposes.

I think laptops are better than desktop. We can carry laptop anywhere and it has battery backup and we can use when the power cut.

If you pay your utility bills, that should not be an issue.

I have both - and I like them for different reasons -

when I decide to upgrade - I will buy a lighter laptop than what I have for portability and a more powerful desktop for gaming

I havent used a desktop in my home since leaving my parents house when I turned 18.

when college came, a laptop was the only choice. When I worked in banking, we had desktops, and it always felt antiquated.

My current day job involves enough travel that every one in my position is outfitted with what they nicknamed the "mobile office", which is essentially a laptop, wireless mouse, headset, iphone, and ipad.

I honestly dont see the need to use a desktop anymore, but it is definitely the cheaper option if you are on a budget. I love the portability of a laptop, and working from any room in the house. series deals have been closed while on the john

At this point, I've actually purchased a second laptop (a macbook pro, top of the line in specs) just for my business/IM activities. The best part is, it can operate like a "desktop". A wireless keyboard and mouse, and I can plug it right into my 60 inch led tv, and shut it, and operate it this way as well. Thats all I need at this point. It would be hard to go back to a desktop from this, and the freedom of being able to "grab" whatever I'm working on, as is, shut the lid, and go wherever I need to go with it, is just beautifully simple and practical.
