Is life worth living?

I found this article by chance....I was looking for the answer and have found one I agree with. Not every life is worth living. How many of us live like robots, working for others, bowing our heads and struggling. We don't know how to examine our life's and have no means to pay someone to help us. Prisoners, faking life and watching our children hit the same path. Read on, you may have better answer.

Is the unexamined life worth living?

By Robert Gerzon

I've always been fascinated by Socrates' bold statement that "The unexamined life is not worth living."

He doesn't mince words. He doesn't say that the unexamined life is "less meaningful than it could be" or "one of many possible responses to human existence." He simply and clearly says it's not even worth living.

Why does he make such strong, unequivocal statement?

Socrates believed that the purpose of human life was personal and spiritual growth. We are unable to grow toward greater understanding of our true nature unless we take time to examine and reflect upon our life. As another philosopher, Santayana, observed, "He who does not remember the past is condemned to repeat it."

Examining our life reveals patterns of behavior. Deeper contemplation yields understanding of the subconscious programming, the powerful mental software that runs our life. Unless we become aware of these patterns, much of our life is unconscious repetition.

As a psychotherapist, I see so many tragic examples of the effect of an unexamined life. I remember Melissa, a sensitive, attractive woman in her late forties who realized that a series of repetitive, doomed-from-the-beginning relationships had used up so many years of her life that it was now too late for her to realize her dream of a husband, home and family of her own. I recall Donald, a caring, hard-working man who ignored his wife and family for too many years and found himself depressed and living alone in an apartment by the time he came to see me.

If only Melissa and Donald had taken the time to examine and reflect upon their lives as they were living them, they could have made changes and had a different experience during their lifetime.

The good news is that it is never too late to start examining our life more thoroughly -- and to reap the rewards. Melissa never had the child she wanted but she stopped recreating her past and eventually married a loving man who helped her heal her childhood wound of a father who deserted her. It was too late for Donald to get a second chance with his wife, but he was able to build strong relationships with his children.

We all have blind spots. Sometimes when I examine a chronic problem in my life, I have that unsettling feeling that I must be missing something, but I can't quite see what it is. We try to examine ourselves, but none of us can see our own back side (our "shadow").

That's why Socrates' method of self-examination included an essential element that became known as "Socratic" dialogue. Dialoguing with a close friend, a spouse, a skilled psychotherapist or spiritual adviser helps reveal those blind spots we cannot see by ourselves.

Our society discourages self-awareness with a weekly cycle of working and consuming that keeps us too busy to slow down for self-reflection. Consumer capitalism's game plan prefers an unaware and vaguely dissatisfied populace that tries to fill the emptiness inside with shiny new products.

It's a radical act to stop and contemplate your life. But according to Socrates, it's the only game that really matters.

Life is worh living if you stop thinking so much about self and think instead about how you can help someone else and leave the world a little better off than it was when you entered it.

It seems this thread is aimed more at freedom and personal realization than it is about living...as far as living goes, MINE is worth living and the rest are all secondary!

On to the more important point, freedom...

Freedom is, quite simply, when a person realizes how little control others people and circumstance really has over them. Power and control can only exist if we, as a whole, willingly give it!

The "freedom of speech" is something that has always confused me, I mean really, the freedom to speak! Nobody gives me the freedom to speak, I speak, anybody can speak, you only loose the freedom to speak when you actually stop speaking!

Life is a game, you either play it or you get played!

Banking Collapse Announces the Beginning of the Golden Age

Those in tune with vibrational change can attest that the Golden Age has already begun! The years leading up to 2012 will usher in an unprecedented change in our global civilization where we will gradually transcend time and money as evidenced by the recent multitude of bank closings which is breaking down the paradigm of money in our society.

        Changes in Time

Our perception of time, unknowingly to those who are not in tune to this anomaly, is being dissolved at a rapid pace. 100 years ago, our civilization was traveling by horse and buggy. We're currently at the saturation point of where technology is surpassing its convenience. The unprecedented amount of change in technology is evidence of how time has gradually broken down and reflected in the significant amount of change through the speeding up of our vibrational patterns. In the past thirty years, alone, technology has outpaced the cumulative effort of the thousands of years of technology in our civilization.

        Changes in Money

Our need for money is also collapsing within this paradigm. Currency had value at one point in time, where it could be measured and paid in silver. Now, money is represented by a piece of paper with incremental numbers on it and essentially only worth the paper it's printed on. How many trees need to be cut to maintain this facade of money?

Recently in the news, the IndyMac Bank was taken over by the company who instigated the need for our current dependency of currency, the Federal Reserve. The Fed is desperately trying to maintain their stronghold on society by continuously pumping money back into the stock market to create a false illusion that their ink paper is actually worth something. Now, their taking control of the collapsing banks in a last-ditch effort to impose fear and control over us. Their ship is sinking and they know it.

        Now What?

We have two basic emotions: fear and love. Unfortunately, many people will fear losing their ink paper but now is the time to embrace the change that is occurring.

Think of it this way: Each time a bank closes or is taken over by the Federal Reserve, means we're one step closer to the full implementation of the Golden Age!

The game is over, my friends. They lost and we won so don't let the illusion of money, time or fear-based politics get to you. All of our souls chose to be here RIGHT NOW to make a difference in this world and to witness the start of the Golden Age.

All of our souls, without exception, thought we could overcome the fear-based mentality to make a difference in this world. The powers that be knew this and developed a structure system that kept us locked inside-the-box through the media and what we learned in school, essentially cultivating our minds to THEIR agenda. As our minds are opening up to the truth, we see through their illusion and we're opening up our potential to the unlimited possibilities that exist outside-the-box.

The Best Time to be Alive

This is the most exciting time to be alive! How many people can say they personally witnessed the end of time and money? This is why we're here, because we wanted to be one of those witnesses. There may never be another opportunity to be alive in such a trying, yet wonderful time in which we're experiencing.

Please remember, each time we buy into their fear, we continue to empower their illusion. Conversely, each time we see this moment as a rare time to be alive and appreciate the reasons WHY we're here, we'll continue to collapse the current paradigm as we enter into our Golden Age debut.

Ok is it just me or does anyone else not have a clue as to what Indy says? Now I haven't fully recovered from my sickness so that's affecting me. But I made it a point to try to understand what he says and I started getting dizzy, a headache, and confused immediately. I couldn't make it past the second sentence. Is there anyone that is able to translate?

You are the first person to ever admit not understanding what Indy is saying. What I can get from his posts (there is another thread - "Opera" on this forum where he just talks to himself) is that he seems to be some pissed off French person that is trying make everyone in the US as miserable as he is. Don't know why he picked the US. Probably knows someone here; maybe his ex.

            Anyway have fun with it.

MY life is worth living - and every now and again I pull it up and examine it - then just keep on living it.

              I like Indy - he's a true deep thinker. For interpretation, it's usually about the U.S. -

              -we're going to attack somewhere
-we're going to be attacked by our own military
-our economy will crash and totally burn
-everyone is out to get us
-we're too dumb to know that everyone is out to get us
-whatever the problem is - we're going down - and that's that

Members in the OT aren't worried - we're all going to Indy's house when the walls crash in around us here.

As for Socrates - he's dead.

My own "personal realization" is that I'm alive - I won't be that way forever - I need to enjoy what is while it is. There is a danger in worrying overmuch about self realization - you can become so self absorbed that you miss the rest of life happening outside the narrow focus of "you".

If you have a life, then it is worth living to the full.

If you give back more than you receive or learn in your
life to the benefit of others, then you can be content.

Be careful what you say about those you do not know MYOB.

First off - yes, I understand every word he says -- and that is how we became friends and he became my partner - he has taught me a world of technology that I didn't know existed - and he taught me without charge, and became partners -a partnership worth fortunes that could never be obtained through mere bank accounts.

Secondly - Indy is not FRENCH. He lives in France. Indy is a Scott and that is why he has exquisite command of the language (if not the spelling...Sorry, Indy, LOL).

Thirdly - Indy has many American friends and LOVES Americans -- what he detests is the fascist takeover of America.

Fourthly - Indy has contacts with people you wouldn't be allowed within 20 feet of. When he speaks he may be a bit dramatic - but his warnings are real, and NOT made up in the mind of a brooding fanatic. While I admit, I don't really like the Chris Story epoch and it may seem extreme -- the reports are made from REAL global rumors, speculation, and fact -- things we don't hear from our fascist controlled press. We have to read them with a grain of salt, but there is truth woven in the rumors and I believe that his epoch writings, even when not totally believable have done much to wake up those who were drifting and make them examine what exactly is going on. People scoffed about trillions being stolen -- but just a few months ago the Pentagon came public with the news that they had 2.3 trillion missing -- 2.3 trillion missing?? and you call Indy a madman for trying to wake up the sleepers?

Fifthly - If Americans do not wake up and take back control of this country, we are not the only country in jeaprody - every part of the world is feeling the grip of our growing fascist state -- and we are now facing WWIII at the hands of these criminals. Yet people yawn and change tv channels. He concentrates on the US because we are the ones in the gravest danger and we are the only ones who can stop it and put things right for the entire globe.

And lastly, in 2005 when the CODEX issue was raging, he helped us get the word out -- and 50 million Americans wrote to congress and said "NO WAY". Indy was accused at that time of being an alarmist and a "conspiracy theorist". Congress went against 50 million citizens and signed the CODEX ephmeritis (sp?) and look what became of that - supplements hard to get and very expensive in some countries and some of the best completely forbidden - and now Bill C-51 in Canada, which will illegalize not only the purchase of herbs but the growing of them in personal gardens as well -- EVEN GARLIC -- and will also allow for the search of homes without warrant, seizure, and even prosecution for the grower. And if America had voted no the WTO could have never gotten CODEX off the ground. How long before this comes to law in the US? It's signed and passed - and I have seen propeganda starting to circulate about herbal remedies again recently. Enactment of this bill is predicted for America in 2010 - they just okayed irradiating vegetables with no labeling so we don't know what we are eating now when trying to eat fresh foods.

So - if you think he is alarmist, check into the wonderful world of CODEX and remember how he banded with Americans to help them fight that and how he was labeled "conspiracy theorist" for it.

I laugh when I hear people say "freedom of speech can't be controlled. The press is gagged now - books are being banned, protesters are being jailed. We are to get "permits" to gather to protest? We have "free speech zones". Dictionary definitions of words such as "fascism" are being altered. Go to work and say something that someone finds "offensive".
Will all of you that say that no one can take your freedom of speech say what you think in the face of jail or worse? We have 11 anit-war protesters from the DNC being held on charges of conspiracy to commit TERRORISM for denouncing war. HOW BRAVE are you when it comes to your freedom to speak? Would you risk jail to tell the truth -- Many of our journalists just did, and they lost - jailed for trying to tell you the truth. A meeting of one of the free press organizations has since been raided without warrent.

It is time to really sit back and consider who you are and what you stand for -- and exactly how strongly you stand for it. At least you will know who you are when the hammer falls.

I KNOW what Indy is saying. Why is one person so intent on convincing Americans they are enslaved by fascists? I already know what I stand for and I don't need some Scotsman in France who is so holy that only he can approach God, and tell me I can't speak my mind. When the hammer falls, I'll know who to hit, just as Americans have been doing for over 230 years.

Have you heard of propaganda? Names like Jean Auguste Hérold, Axis Sally, Seoul City Sue, Lord Haw-Haw, William Joyce, Hanoi Hannah and others come to mind. Their intent was to disrupt the morale of citizens of the opposing side. Not accusing anyone, but think about it. Does he love America so much that he would dare to speak out against the great God, which no one else can do?

The only antidotes to propaganda are logic and reality. The Soviet Union used to hold lavish military parades to demonstrate its strength, a show of force to frighten enemies and build morale at home. But no amount of Soviet propaganda would have been sufficient to hide the failures of an insane economic and political system. Reality has a way of imposing itself on unworldly ideologies.

Have I heard of Propeganda? Why yes, yes I have -- um..you forgot Tokyo Rose -- oh, and the Pentagon who our Judiciary just swatted for their propeganda campaign which was going quite healthily....lot of believers.

I have spoken for Indy as he is my friend, but he is also a man who can well take care of his own interests and will do so if he wishes to. I thought I had explained the foreign interest in America -- the whole globe is waiting to see what our people are going to do now. They aren't listening to much any more because most of it is, in fact, just propanda - but they are watching. I am hoping what they see is that our morale is running towards "kick fascist butt at home" at the moment.

There is a time to point out what is going wrong and a time to rise against it. Enough has been pointed out I quite agree. It is way past time for people to decide what their part in this country is - each individual -and collectively as well. I am in the mind that we are all tired of reading about all about it. It's time to just go constitutional and kick some fascist ass.

By the way, Tokyo Rose was not a real person. This was a generic nickname by Allied forces in the South Pacific during World War II to any of about a dozen or so English-speaking female broadcasters of Japanese propaganda. Their intent was to disrupt the morale of Allied forces listening to the broadcast near the Japanese mainland. Some of the names associated with Tokyo Rose is Iva Toguri D'Aquino, who also broadcasted under the name "Orphan Ann", Ruth Hayakawa (who substituted for Iva on weekends) a Canadian June Suyama ("The Nightingale of Nanking"), and Myrtle Lipton ("Little Margie") were the most notable voices.

Interesting, Paul. I didn't know that much about Tokyo Rose - just that it was anti-morale spew during the war.

                        Now who to kick?
Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Paulson, Wolfawitz, That new guy that took Rumsfeld's spot (can't think of his name to save my life at the moment), Rove, McCain, Obama, Both CLintons - Bushes daddy, -- then you can start in on every damned member of congress who voted for the patriot act - followed with those who voted pro-amnesty for telecoms.

Now what I have been wondering, considering the topic of this thread, is what would have been the reaction if someone would have come in here and stated - no, an unexamined life is not worth living, we should get rid of everyone who can't think past a televison screen and what they can consume at the local wal-mart this payday? I mean, think of the enviromental issues releived and, hey - they'd hardly notice anyway. .......and suddenly we are back at the Illuminati threads, LOL. Thinking is fun....and very dangerous if all do not participate equally. :p

There won't be one damned change for the better after Nov. 2nd, I can almost guarantee that.
There are many multi-faceted issues on the ballot, not just the installation of a "liberal corporate sellout". And if you don't participate in the election process to effect change, you have not earned the right to complain about the results.

Despite what some would have you believe otherwise, your vote does count. If you want to eliminate term limits on Senators and Representative, start an initiative! Get active! There are many issues of great importance at stake. Term limits, however is not the problem.

Just so you know Mexico has term limits on its Senators and Chamber of Deputies, as does many Latin American countries. But that has not eliminated corruption or their good ol' boy networks.

Me and "my boys" are quite active in getting good people elected in local, state, and national issues we care about. And little by little, we are achieving success. No matter who gets elected, our activism will continue.

The alternative is anarchy or worse. Bitch all you want if that happens; you'll never be heard.

Anarchy? Um...no. Actually, I just wanna be the queen. You got a problem with that?

LOL - actually Paul, no I am not an Anarchist. I am very set on seeing Ron Paul and others like him running the country. I am very constitutionalist myself. Ron's got a few ideas I dont compat with - but overall, the idea is liberty - do what the hell you want as long as it isn't hurting someone else, and the only ones who seem to comprehend that Ideaology is the constitutionalists. I am active in helping to get them elected wherever they crop up for election and will continue to do so until we can be secure in our freedoms. I don't want the FDA allowing someone to irrdiate my food, I don't need someone legislating my daily safety. IF people had to decide for themselves what was good for them and what wasn't again, we'd need no babysitters. Sure people would make themselves sick, give themselves diseases, and hurt or kill themselves making bad choices, but that is what life is -- YOUR choices. We need macro-managment - by honest people, not micro-management of our every move. I eat french fries, so sue me. I smoke, have a cow over it. I also can climb 14,000 foot mountains while smoking and don't lose my breath prematurely over it and sure don't want to be legislated against climbing or whitewatering where I want because it might be risky.
And I want my money to be spent the way I see fit - not embezzled for actions I do not in the first way condone. And I believe that I am very capable of reading any literature I want to damned well read without someone watching what I am reading or banning books.

All very sane and simple I would think.

I am so sick of this crap called Life.
But when you consider the alternative ......

Life is bigger than politics. I know a woman at work who is so focused on this election that everyone avoids talking to her now. Her entire world is wrapped around what happens in November and she obsesses over it constantly.

It isn't healthy and it accomplishes nothing but frustration. You do what you can, try to make a difference where you can but accept that beating your head against a wall that won't move only damages your head.

Countries, governments and societies come and go over time - your life happens once. Enjoy it.

Life Can Be Worth Living If…
No amount of adjustment will transform a Lizard into a Crocodile. A Lizard in Lagos, Nigeria, can never become a Crocodile in California, United States.

In the same vein, no amount of outward changes a man will effect in his life will transform his life. The nature of man is depraving. Only a regenerated nature can produce a better life and worthwhile living.

If you want your life to be worth living, you have to live according to the standard of life. No man is qualified to define such standard because man is fallible. The standard is set by God, your Creator. He is the Manufacturer of man, hence, He alone is qualified to set such a standard.

But you cannot live up to the standard of life. Therefore, being the Manufacturer, God has provided man with the Manual of life. In this Manual is spelt out the Standard in clear terms, and assistance is procured to enable anyone who cares to live up to the standard. Hence, no man has any excuse for living below the standard.

By inviting and embracing Christ Jesus, God’s Spirit will come into your life and cause your nature to be regenerated, and such a regenerated nature is empowered to live up to the Standard of life, the Bible. And only when you begin to live by this Standard that you will have true peace in your life and with God, your Creator. And only then will you find life to be quite exciting, more meaningful and, indeed, worth living.

Try this today by inviting Jesus Christ into your life just like many others around the world, and you will confirm this truth I have just shared with you.

                                    Yours lovely,
                                    Adiari Captain.
