Paul had mentioned that he uses Pegasus Mail. I use Gmail and am interested in your opinions as to what you like and why?

Thanks,

    For what purpose?

I like PMail for a couple of main reasons. First, it's incredibly powerful. I have yet to see anything else that's even close. Second, everything is contained in a single folder. No changes to the registry, no external files needed, etc. So, I can drag a copy to my phone and have the whole thing backed up and easily moved to another machine if needed.

I use Gmail for some things. Apple Mail for others. And I have a separate address that I only use on the iPad. (The mail app on the iPad sucks, but that account is such low volume it doesn't matter.)

I don't like remotely hosted mail for anything I have to tie another account to. Those services are too big a target, which makes them more likely to be hacked or otherwise compromised.

    JOE,

Frankly if you have the space, etc... having it locally is a great idea. It is easier to search and you can reference and respond anywhere. Contrary to many myths, it isn't really that much safer, though paul has a point about big targets, and remotely hosted may be saved longer. ALL MAIL is stored and passed ONLINE and, as such, may be available. The ONLY exception is on corporate closed networks that are ISOLATED. Although the stuff is STILL online and copied, it is difficult for anyone to get it from the internet. If anyone emails anything to ANYONE outside the enterprise network, THAT email is stored elsewhere before the recipient ever gets it.
