and I finally started Cold calling

I barely joined the warrior forum, but been looking around for a few months. and from doing that i learned a few things.

I started cold calling 2 days ago. all together i called for 4 hrs so far.

in that time i got 6 leads. which (fingers crossed) i hope they become customers.

I offer rep marketing services.

so what i did is pretty much take the easy route. the reason why it took me so long to get started was because i was scared to go into the presentation for some reason. like what if they asked something i didn't know.

so what i did is i called and pretty much just told them that i was a new company, and i was just trying to get my name out there. sort of what JD teaches on his telemarketing report.
but instead of going for the sale. i offer a 5 day free trial of my service.

i know 5 days is not a lot. but is enough time for me to prove to them what i can do. i only offer 5 days now because i sort of need some cash within the next week.

if is not working i will extend the trial period later on.

but so far 6 took me up on the offer.

i already showed them what i did and how it works and they seemed impressed. so now i just have to wait and see. but it seems like i should have at least a few hundreds coming my way from 4 hrs of calling.

    Congratulations.

I don't think I really like the idea of the free trial, but consistent action brings results.

    • I didn't at first. but I since i wasn't able to get myself together to try and get the sale right away.
this way it took the pressure off of me.
if it works. if i convert them to customers. i will continue to do it until i feel more comfortable and confident on the phone i will try to close sales or do presentation without the trial

I had a guy on my old forum that basically made a contract with people for four hundred dollars per month. He performed a service for them for an entire month, during which period they could cancel at anytime...

He basically faxed them an agreement to sign agreeing to the terms, and if they didn't cancel within 30 days he started billing them at $400 per month.

Like yourself, he was confident that he could prove himself within that time frame, and did pretty well with this model for awhile.

If you are going to do any kind of free trial , I would suggest getting billing information at least though

Get it from the beginning, so you don't have to play phone tag for weeks when it's time to get paid.

    Good going on the effort!

Can't wait to hear you tell us you have some cash!

thanks for the advice. how would I go as far as that?
just get their Credit card over the phone and keep it on file?

i had an idea of doing the same thing but with voicemail drops as well. I already funded my account with $40 a while back and have gotten around to use it because I didn't have a good offer i guess. but i feel like this might get a good response.

i head that to get good conversions on that type of campaign you need to be giving something away for free to get their attention.

Okay Bob, I will just need a little bit of information in order to reserve your free trial, and we will try to get you off the phone as quickly as possible.

Can I get you to spell out your name? Confirm address, contact info... Okay great.

Have you got a pen handy?

Here is our contact info , in case you have any questions.

    (Confirm with them)

And Bob you DO understand that you are only committing to a 30 day free trial during which time you will not be billed for anything and may cancel at any time, right?

    Great.

You understand that the cost of our service is $xx.xx per month, and you will only be billed should you choose to continue , correct?

Okay good. We are almost done...

As far as "securing your free trial" goes, we usually prefer to do that electronically via mc/visa/American express...

Which one of those is going to work best for you today?

Okay great. Have you got that handy?

(Proceed to close and collect billing info).

Here is a cool alteration to this close. If you are using a "T.O." system:

If you were having one person pitch and another person close, the person pitching the sale may say

Sales Person: "Okay bob, I think I have every thing I need here, I am not authorized to take your billing information but if you don't mind holding for just a second, I will transfer you to processing... Can you hold for just a second?

    Thanks.

(transfer to processing person / "Closer")

Processor: Hello Bob? This is Cindy from processing... Nice to meet you. It looks like you are going to be taking out a free trial on our ____ package today?

    Great. Excellent decision.

Okay Bob, I just need to confirm a little bit of information here in order to reserve that for you, and I will try to get you off the phone as quickly as possible.

Can I get you to spell out your name please and title? Confirm address, contact info... Okay great.
