My idea of sending promo flyers.

So we have this great online automotive product almost ready to use.

Now I'm thinking about making flyers, and let the flyers be spread by clients of me.
They have online stores, and when they sell something, they also will add a flyer to their product about my product. When they then sell my product they get 40% commission.

Easy money for them, or?

Does anyone have experience with this kind of offline marketing?
Was it successful?
Or is it a total waste of money?

Thanks.

    I'm a bit confused...

You have an Online Auto product and you want online sellers to add a flyer to their package?

If the product is good why wouldn't they just offer it as an upsell and pick up their full margin and not have to waste any time or compromise their client base.

We send time sensitive coupons for redemption into our own online stores and we also send gift checks out from our offline stores and from an offline sense the redemption is much higher offline than for the online.

If the businesses you hope will distribute your flyers are already clients and buying your products why not just make them the offer and sell them the product rather than trying to complicate the process?

      Sorry that I confused you.

What we do is make software and tools for automotive clubs and petrolheads.
An online store sells car parts to automotive people.

We think that their clients would like our software, but it makes no sense for them to sell our products and give service.

So that is why we have the idea of flyering, so we can all profit from it.

What you really are talking about is an affiliate program....

JMO you need to set it up then present it to the potential affiliates

you will need a good program , gotoffers is used by many but I am sure there are other smaller ones, ones for "one" company to use

you will have to have an affiilate agreement, rules, faq,
how long will the cookies track, return policies etc

you should get some nice banners in various sizes and YOU need to write the sales copy for them
    some "text" links

Just asking people to stick a "flyer" (I think you mean banner?) in their outgoing email is not going to get results but you can set up an affiiliate program.

Why not reach out to some of your best prospects and get their input?

Affiliate contracts are already signed with one of Europe's biggest players (TRADETRACKER).

But what I'm talking about and sorry again if I explained bad, is real OFFLINE flyers.

So a flyer that is added to real goods and is send by real offline mail. Post office mail.

So when the buyer of a product opens the box, inside is beside the product also our flyer with a good offer on our product.

if he decide to buy it, the sender will also get his share.

    I've seen that done often.

Sometimes an envelope with offers from many related vendors
and I think that if that happens, it makes it harder to get your message seen.

I think banner ads on your client's sites would help with your brand/offer consistency.

I do the flyer thing in all the stuff I ( my girl ) sells on e-bay. the big question is how do you track this stuff if its your offer going out in another companies box? Separate sites for each vendor?

Setting each of the vendors up as an affiliate and then supplying them the flier that has their web address on it, and on their site they have the link to the offer makes more sense.

Yes.....set them up an affiliate url then just make a short url directed to it on the flyer

    something like bitly.com/joesauto

or set them up a subdirectory - you could even get some cheapo info domains for them or godaddy does some domains for a buck etc

or you could set them up premade page they add to their website if they wish
    like joesauto.com/yourbiz.html

or whatever...of course that can be a pain if some have wordpress, some have joomla, some have html or custom or whatever .....

IMHO it is really important to let them know that sales will be tracked. I have had many "offers" from people to "include their deal" in stuff I do but if it is not trackable - or the tracking is a headache - it is just not worth it to me.

If you have an affiliate program get them into that then show them a good way to track on the flyers and you all will do well - less headaches too IMHO

Personally, I think the flyers are a fantastic idea. Anywhere where you're teaming up with a fellow business that allows you to reach their customer base doubles your promotional value.
