How to sell websites to those not looking to buy

In this post, http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...5k-2-days.html, I gave the ad which sells web design to those who have already decided to buy.

It's still running today and went on to be the most ripped off ad for web design on the Internet.

There's another market for web design, to those who know and are interested in getting a better one,
but haven't pulled the trigger to get one.

So, instead of doing what everyone else does, which is talk about themselves,
let's talk about pre-existing pain, bias and experience.

This doesn't have to be about websites.

It can be about taxes, payroll, whining staff, media reps,
cold callers, B.S.

Let's throw rocks at their enemies for them.

Now you are on the side of the lone man standing up
against this tidal wave of forces out to bring him down.

Do you think you'll have a welcome entrance
to his mind now compared to everybody else seeking his attention?

O.K., let's roll this out and see how it ties in with
selling websites/upgrades to those who have one.

Can You Spot The 8 Things Wrong With This Website?

Fix them and it's like having your best sales person selling for you 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

No payroll, no tax, no whining.

No B.S. reasons why they can't come into work.

Are you the victim of a media rep selling you a website and crowds will
suddenly come knocking on your door with money?

Or fallen for the cute woman who
created a work of art but has no clue how to turn it into money?

If you are ready for some truth serum, I've got it.

Show me your website and I'll show
you very specific ways to make it a slave to you...not the other way around.

Call xx, xxx, xx, if the line is busy,
please keep calling.

[Name], standing up for the hard working business people of America.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do a screen capture of a bad website and pop that in as a image.

Not too bad, because it's obvious.

Want the reader to work looking for what's wrong
and also to think to himself...

"Well my website looks a bit like that,
so I wonder what's wrong with it."

The part where it says to keep calling, lifts phone responses.

The last line is you are standing up for him.

A variation of this postcard could be the call to action is
going to a live event where you will cover those 8 areas
which are killing the response.

There you go, how to sell web design to those who aren't
looking to buy, by using pre-existing hatred, enemies and
bias.

Best,
Doctor E. Vile

    Thanks Ewen,

Given the push by Google to make everyone have mobile optimised sites I'd "TEST" the addition of the word "Mobile" to the headline and copy.

Most of the redesign work I've picked up of late has been influenced by the desire to have a better mobile site.

Regardless of whether it is included in the headline or copy I'd definitely be including it in the conversation to any respondents.

I've kept out more specific items like mobile friendly because
I'm going after broader pre-existing conditions outside
      their website.

The closest to the website is the enemy who
      sold it to them.

Of course, one of the 8, or whatever number one decides,
      is not mobile friendly
      .

Yes...I note that you use "media rep" and "cute woman"...but don't attack the kid that designed it for their parents...or the "family friend"...even though the website owner may be thinking of those individuals.

One thing that has got some airtime here in the media this week has been including "coding" as a language skill required to be taught in schools from ages 4 years and up.

Coding...yes...my kids already want to code...but can they understand the psychological power behind certain actions and designs?

Maybe some of those poor designs that have been cobbled together by amateurs were once accepted by understanding business owners who "needed a website"...

        ...some rich pickings there.

Ewen, just wanted to thank you for all the input and wisdom you freely and unselfishly impart to the forum, I really appreciate it.

For a fledgling copywriter this information is gold.

I too have a file on my drive like 'SirThomas' has, mine is called 'ewenmack warrior wisdom'..it's getting quite large!
