Helt with script improvement!

Hello

Some time ago I started my own businuess selling the food supplement Omega-3.
I use the strategy of giving the first package away for only the postal fee and then
after two weeks it leads into a subscription if the customer doesnt call/mail and say no.

However, I feel like I can improve my script alot to obtain a higher hitrate.
I have quite long experience selling in this format altough I used hotter leads previously.
The leads I use now are from web-competitions that are about a year old.

This is the current script im using

Hi, ny name is NAME and im calling from COMPANY.

The reason I am calling is because you participated in a competition on the internet
from which youve won a month supply omega-3! The only fee is to the postal services, do you still live on ADDRESS?
(Sorry for broken english im selling in Sweden)

It's very short and concise but ive found that to be effective in this format.

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance!

Best regards

What kind of response are you getting directly after that? Why are they saying no? Do they not want to pay the postage? Do they even want omega 3? Whys that important to them? Would you pay for something you put in your body by a guy over the phone? Give some more details on what your struggling with.

A yes followed by silence (Which I initiate a close on) or a negative response.
Mostly I get bad respones without or with very short explanation like "im not interested" or "I dont eat pills". The postage is rarely a problem!
Im not getting leads were theyve showed interest for the product.
It has alot of positive health effects but like many food supplements people are skeptical.

In sweden selling food supplement like this is quite ordinary so I dont think
people are worried about getting something that will be harmful.

Well, mostly its people skepticism with just getting a free product like this and it's
benefits I believe. Also the leads have been called before so they might see it as some kind of spam. Ive tried cold calling to prevent that but then the skepticism is even bigger. It's kind of hard to point it out specificly since our conversations are so short.

Is this a sales format you dont use in the states?

This isn't a product you would cold call with. But it's a good offer. Me? I would use PPC ads on Google, and Facebook. Buy lists of buyers from vitamin companies.

Don't say "You won". That sends up so many red flags. Say "Because you ordered vitamins before, we want you to try a month's supply of our Omega 3 at no cost, you just pay the shipping. Fair enough?"

This is a call to the list of vitamin buyers. The PPC ads would just go to a webpage with the offer stated.

Don't try selling to people who aren't used to buying supplements.

Then they can return it to the company address.

Did they really participate in a "competition on the internet" ?
If I did not, I'd be very turned off by that approach.
If leads did do the competition, they might have been
expecting the prize to be sent for free.

    I'd change that line.

Yes, all leads have participated! However, the main prize that was flagged wasnt the omega-3. What do you suggest?
I have tried selling it was we run a campaign and give away omega-3 to everyone in the persons region (when cold calling) but with poor results.

      Thanks everyone for feedback!

Probably just not a good product to sell that way. How do people usually buy that stuff?
At vitamin or grocery stores, or by internet in the US.

Go for larger ticket items that are more useful to consumers or businesses.
    More profitable for you.

But, if you want to continue with the Omega 3:
(They forgot about the internet competition altogether, so they think you're dodgy.)

"Hello, do you want a month's supply of xyz (maybe slogan) Omega-3 oil
    for the cost of shipping?"

Also refer them to your website.

Sounds like they need to be educated on why they'd even want omega 3 before they'd agree to your offer. I personally don't even know what omega 3 does so i wouldn't want it if someone called.

The only thing I can think of (and I don't do anything like this in my business, but just a thought) would be to send then a email or letter in advance congratulating and reminding them of the competition, selling them on the benefits of why they'd want omega 3, and let them know a rep will be calling to confirm the address and shipping out the product. Then just call the next day and assume the close.

Would help to have fresher leads...

Anyway what I see with the script is there's no build up to make them want what you have. You're going from "you won" to "the fee is."

Which also can trigger a "scam" alarm.

So there's a couple of things to try out.

One is to ramp up their desire:

"That's a premium valued at $XXX but it's your at no charge, our treat. And just so you know, each tablet has enough [miracle ingredient] to give you [desired benefit]. You get a whole month's supply, 30 days' worth, as the winner. Congratulations!

Oh... all we ask is that you cover the postage, it's only $XX - is that okay?"

Another thing you can try is building agreements:

"That's a premium valued at $XXX but it's your at no charge, our treat, OK? [wait for a yes]

And just so you know, each tablet has enough [miracle ingredient] to give you [desired benefit], sound good? [wait for a yes]

So you get a whole month's supply, 30 days' worth, as the winner. Congratulations! Oh... all we ask is that you cover the postage, it's only $XX - is that okay?"
