Who has ever pitched a per-inquiry media deal?

Hello

Who has ever pitched a per-inquiry deal to an offline media provider (TV/radio)?

Any tips/scripts on how to get a mutually beneficial arrangement?

Thank you

    I have not.

How do they know there was an inquiry?

Still doable, but MUCH harder. Especially for an unknown small biz guy. See, back in 1996, rules and regs got relaxed, the result; Clear Channel, Radio One, Infinity...and with Howard Stern at the helm, the paid subscription channels made a big dent in PI deals. Your best bet today is a local, low power FM station, the problem is, don't expect glory day results.

TV may actually be easier today. Local channels may have late night time available. You need to find media DOING it, and there are national companies who claim to still be able to get you PI air time, although, do some due diligence, you'll see they have laid off many staff recently, not an encouraging sign.

Also, and most importantly, it depends on what you have to offer. It needs to match their perceived demographic, and I say perceived because today, those left standing are pretty entrenched in what they think their viewer/listener wants.

Contact me, I can guide you through this, or probably better for you, give some better alternatives to PI deals. Today, with podcasts and YouTube channels into the millions, exposure there might be better than what you get with local deals few hear or see.

PS. Newspapers are still very active with PI, especially the small town weeklies.

I did a "per sale" deal with a local newspaper once.

I understand the allure of a per-inquiry/per sale deal...no up front marketing costs.

But if it isn't profitable for the media, they won't do it again.

The better option is simply to negotiate the lowest ad rate, then you don't need to share any of the profit. In fact, I've use barter on lots of media buys.

And bartering what you sell for ad space is much more profitable (and easier to sell) than making a per sale agreement.

    Just a thought.
