Facebook Local Ads

I was wondering if anyone has any advice or experience running 'local geo targeted ads' on facebook? I was thinking of adding this to my clients options.

Maybe I could setup small ads on the right side of the facebook pages? See, I would create them a fanpage and then maybe also set a budget for ads to display on their 'fans' pages.


Am I going in the wrong direction here? Let me know what you guys think.

    I haven't tested FB ads, yet, but I have heard that many people have success with it. You would just need to set up a budget similar to Google PPC only the Ads are more targeted. I am not sure if you could get them to only show on the clients Fan Page, however.

    My understanding is that you need to figure out your target market, such as what you would find on Quantcast's website. You need a profile of your customer (ie. female 25-50, college education, 2 kids, etc). You then fill that info in the settings for your FB ad and it will only show for people that meet that criteria. Of course you can target locations, too. At least that is what I have read about it.

    It believe it would be worth testing. Start out with a small budget.

    Hey,

    I have used FB Ads for my membership site and they have worked wanders due to the targetting options. The difference howver is that my target audience is worldwide as opposed to 'local'.

    However, in saying that i believe geo targetted ads on FB will work very effectively.

    Unlike Google Ads you don't target keywords. You target groups of people in interest groups. So as an example for tinting you could target locals in your city (or all the cities the busienss services) that are car enthusiasts or any other group available on FB (of which they are many) that relates to your service.

    As the cost is so low a test campaign will do no harm

    the most important thing about setting up a FB fan page is trying to make it go VIRAL.

    By doing this; it's well worth the ad money.... However, if it's not going viral and not becoming interactive, it's probably not worth the money.

    I am personally a facebook user, however I personally haven't used facebook ads, I am part of a business that has and it did'nt do so well. I have heard of others that did>I would guess it all depends on your targeted market. A lot of test and error would go along on advertising ads as it does elsewhere.
