How long do you wait between sending the first intro letter and your follow up phone call?

Good question. Bumping the thread! Also, to people that are using direct mailing (personalized to each business) how much success have you had?

My business was built from this method. So i'd say it works very well.

Of course it all depends on the letter, how you position yourself and what you say on the phone.

Tip: The follow up phone call should not be used to sell. Use it to make the appointment.

        Hi Riz

Great tip. The object of the whole exercise is to get in front of the customer and find out exactly what they need and want.

        Regards

Depending on the type of mail you send most definately don't wait to long.

If letters went out on a Monday i'd have a pretty good idea that they would have received the letter by Tuesday or Wednesday and i'd make my follow up calls on Thursday morning.

Don't leave it to long or the business owner kind of forgets what the letter was about. You want to catch them whilst they are intrigued and the iron is hot.

    Hope that helps.

I was thinking the same thing. Duh, just set an appt, you dont have to sell over the phone! I feel relieved reading that lol.

  • If I may ask Riz, what is all included on your postcard? Liek what kind of information do you put on cards? OR how about an email(personal) and then a followup of a personal letter? I can relate to people in a certain niche business, because I own that exact same type of business. So I can say 'look what has happened to my own business., They will feel bit more 'related' to me atleast and listen or for sure just give my email a chance.

Maybe some of you can just do a free job to a specific niche , and then just always target that niche and relate back to the example of what you did for 'business A' , atleast they can feel like they can relate to you.... atleast people will listen a bit if they feel like 'something in common'.
