OFFLINE MARKETING

Yeah... I said it....

Big Bird... What I lovingly call... YellowBook.

All over this forum there are people selling offline marketing guides that talk about how the Yellow Pages are dead.

I respectfully disagree.

They have a HUGE presence all over the nation and all they sell is Google Search Engine Optimization.

What does this have to do with you and why I want to kick them in the teeth?

A couple of weeks ago. My client was stolen from my KUNG FU grip. By who?

Big Bird sales rep.

The good thing is this.... This was a client I picked up trying email marketing and so on and so forth. And... it was just a $30 per month hosting account.

So no harm no foul.

I was surprised though... usually they don't have a fighting chance with me....
Actually it is my own darn fault. It was one of those trouble clients that calls you 6 times everyday. So I dropped the ball on my customer service. One more than one occasion I wanted to give him his money back anyway.

Anyone else have a the YellowPage Sales Guy steal an account?

  Nah. You'd be surprised... offline people arent aware of these things like we are. They probably dont even know who YP is... seriously.
  
  Unless you call them and tell them who you are, they dont know you generally, and they dont know the names of your competitors.
  
  Offline is a different world.
  
  I think Louis said YP charges $79 per month still. with a free web page and first 30 days free hosting.

Honestly its SO damn easy to rank locally guys, you all should be utterly TROUNCING reach local, the yellow pages etc.

Ask your client if they'd rather be a name or a number. Get it?

Don't worry about it bro.
Yellowbook is mostly clueless when it comes to providing effective Online Services...
That doesn't mean their sales guys are terrible however....

You don't want those kinds of clients!
Save your time for the big ones!

They actually do a pretty good job on SEO.

I was impressed. They are on of the 7 major companies that have an established partnership with Google.

That's right John....

And they charge inflated prices for SEO. Way inflated.

There USP is the fact that they are on of the 7 companies in the world that have a Partnership with Google.

Now.... let me ask you this... You know YellowPages is out there giving out free stuff with a solid background and professional demeanor. They are out there cold calling everyday.

Why would people in the Offline Niche think they wouldn't need to cold call?

Sagemore.... I am really talking about from an Offline Marketing Perspective.

Yeah.... I could use the phonebook if I wasn't always in front of my computer.

BUT.... what we are talking here is how the Yellow Book is our largest competitor and no one seems to talk about how to compete with them.
