Google Maps Question

Hi, One Question is that I am working on a Client site for Google places.. The site was listed in 10th position So not showing on first 7 places..

Then I optimized the Accounts with few edits and add pics as well as video's.. then build few Good citations and Now It is disappeared from the 10th place as well..

So Its a Google dance and it will be back soon with higher position ? Please advise..

    It all depends on what you changed,any major changes like,phone number,address,categories, sometimes causes problems and then they require snail mail authentication.This can take 6-8 weeks, then it starts to rise again.

      You need to make sure that the primary category (if you changed it) is one that isn't a custom category (i.e. it's a category which appears on the dropdown list when you start typing it in):


      Otherwise, you'll find your listing will not appear on the relevant searches you require, and it'll tell you that you've selected a custom category:

        Are you saying that you shouldn't use use a custom category?

    You mentioned all you changed was your categories. It depends on what you changed the categories to. If they include any location information ie dallas plumber, Google is slapping the hell out of it now. Make sure that you are following the guidelines on Google Places User Guide - Google Places Help . If so, then continue to do citation and review syndication work and you will be back up quickly.

    Thanks guys! I think the problem was that Im using cities name in the catagory and now I removed that from description as well as from catagories... lets c how much time it will take to come back...
