goMobi vs Mobisite Galore

I'm a newbie, and haven't seen this much on subject.

For all you mobile web developers, can you explain to me
why you prefer one services over the other?

While I like the look and feel of goMobi, you can't add
multiple phone #'s for a site that has multiple stores.

Any thoughts or feed back?
#galore #gomobi #mobisite

A simple solution for non-sales smallbiz websites...

...is a Wordpress theme which is mobile enabled...

...meaning you don't have to muck around with tech stuff,
yet you have a design that is flexible in function and form.

Hop on ever to WordPress Theme for Small Business Websites – The Expand2Web SmallBiz WordPress Theme | The Expand2Web Blog
    to check it out.

    All the best,
    Ewen

I use mobisitegalore. Easy to use interface, quality support and good prices. Works well for me anyways and I'm not a big technical guy.

I presented my case for gomobi in this thread last month. I haven't used it enough to encounter a problem with phone numbers, but while you may not be able to enter a number in a phone number field, there's no reason you couldn't include a list of location phone numbers somewhere on the site?

I do like the looks of that expand2web theme, but wonder how sites render on the non-smartphones out there? One thing I like about gomobi is it's supposed to display a site nicely on any web enabled phone, not just the blackberries and iphones etc...

Hello, followed the other thread Steve mentioned and signed up for both, Mobisitegalore and goMobi sadly, there are issues with both that I wish were not there.

With MobiSite, you are locked into fixed designs. The colors for headers, pages, etc are outside your control. Somehow my clients would not be excited by orange page titles, which seems to be the predominate choice. When I went to the forum it seems in earlier versions the design was more open so you could select colors, fonts, etc. other than within the text box. I do hope they open this up again so I can use their service.

With goMobi, the design is strictly icons. When I take the page and run it through the dotMobi emulator the icons show up with a black box against the color background. Apparently they are transparent images. Sure looks bad.

Still searching for a solution. Wapple.net looks flexible and the pages are nice looking but no pricing. Hate to spend time working with something that turns out to be a "kings ransom" so sent an email. If there is interest I would be glad to share that info when I get it.

        Hi Dan,

I honestly suggest you check out Quentin's WSO on creating the mobile sites yourself!

He has a lot of tutorials on how to create them using a lot of free resources (html editor, templates, graphics) etc. He even has created a bunch of templates you can use yourself to get started if you choose to.

Creating these sites is nowhere as complicated as creating a full website, best yet, if you are doing these for business owners, most of the info you can get from their existing websites.

This way you are not held hostage by the constraints of goMobi and mobisitegalore. You can be as creative as you want with your sites or as simple as you want, without the cookie cutter style from these 3rd party vendors. - And also, without having to pay them for hosting!

I would not use either if you are a business. Why would you send your traffic to another business and then pay them for the privilege.

Thank you Etrin and Quentin, that's exactly the the same conclusion that I have come to. It was a great exercise to see what was going on in this space. To see the limitations and opportunities. Time to put head down and create the sites that will bring much needed business to companies that need it the most.

All the best in all your ventures.
