Google Places - Address Changing and its effect

I wondering what experiences any of you have had when having to change the address on a business listing. I have an "A" spot that will eventually have to have an address changed and I'm worried about its effect in rankings.

The address change is still local in within 10-15 miles of original location.

Now all directory listings and everything is built online will not match anymore.

I figure whatever credit Google gave for those citations it will keep right? I'll generate new listings through UBL and on my own and so on.

What your experience with this?

Yea no kidding!!! if you change an address... now the algo scrutinizes you further, I've had more than one address change result in Google finding old, out of date citations. Those can take weeks to get G to straighten out, update your old citations FIRST

A bit of a strange address question.

Unclaimed Google Places listing: address listed in an awkward order -- suite # first, then street address

Linked (and unclaimed) citations: No suite number at all

Ideally, I'd like to make all citations include the suite number, and I'd like the GP listing to have the suite number second.

However... I don't want to mess anything up with GP and citations. The linked citations have reviews, so I want to keep them.

        Thoughts?

Changing the business address on the GP listing will definitely make the current citations null and void. Goo requires that ALL info be the same across the board.

Having said that, as mentioned earlier, I'd go back into all the citations you created and edit the address on them BEFORE making the GP change.

It might take Goo a while to catch up to the changes you made, so be prepared to drop down/off the GP results.

Whatever you do, do ensure real GP results, everything (as in business name, address, phone, website address, etc) need to match exactly in order to help with the GP results. Keep that in mind and you'll be ok.

Thanks, Rob. I think I may just leave the citations without suite number as is for now and add suite number in the order it is on the GP listing for additional citations. I just don't want to take any chances -- I don't want Google to think the address has changed even though it's really just the order.
