OFFLINE MARKETING

Ok, we all know pretty much the basics. But, I have seen a couple of comments to other recent threads about some of the google places listings NOT moving up in ranks.

Now here is my issue. I have had really good luck so far with ranking google places listings, but now I will be doing a Chiro, and the competition is going to be fierce.

So can we all throw in some advanced ideas so I do NOT fall short of ranking this guy.

I have to build him a site as well. So I am going to link his actual Google Places listing to his site, and the main site back to GP's listing.

I am going to do all the necessary correct citations.
Going to build 2 videos for him to satisfy content on GP's listing.
Try to get immediate reviews

what else am I missing, besides the obvious that I may not have mentioned already.

Some of you have mentioned like xml,and some other terms that were not familiar to me.

Yes, it's an xml sitemap.

I would also:
Try to add another 3 videos. Make sure you geo-tag them, and get the keywords in them.
Add 10 relevant images with the keywords in the tags
Create 5 coupons to use on the site
Generate maps
Generate the KML file

  I am new to this forum and found some how when searching for solutions for the new phone verification issues.
  
  I have been optimizing on Google Maps/Places for about two years now but still there is knowledge that I lack.
  
  I have two main questions and would be happy for your help:
  
  1) Please explain what you mean by KML file and how it may be used for GP optimization.
  
  2) Has anyone found a way around the new phone verification issues that have started in the middle on January? I know that the first answer would be build citations and wait until they appear on Places but the process is very long and sometimes the citations never show up. Is there any way to get the phone verification done in an easier manner then submitting to Insider, Super, Hotfrog etc.. and waiting until who knows when?

What is a KML File?

KML is a file format used to display geographic data in an earth browser, such as Google Earth, Google Maps, and Google Maps for mobile. A KML file is processed in much the same way that HTML (and XML) files are processed by web browsers. Like HTML, KML has a tag-based structure with names and attributes used for specific display purposes. Thus, Google Earth and Maps act as browsers for KML files.

Phone Verification

This is still an option for some places listing. It is dependent upon the area in which you are creating the listing. You dont't need to find a way around it. Just use the Postcard option. It just takes longer. Not really that big of a deal.

  I use the phone verifcation method exclusively until Google pulled that and now only uses postcard verification only. Phone verify was much faster. Now we wait for one week for postcard verify. I wish Google would make up their mind and keep both verification options available!

Creating "my maps" with various accounts using the keywords to designate you client seems to work well.

Also, use the blog feature on Google Places and update it a couple times a week. I do that for our insurance agency and it seems to help.

I just used Phone Verification, to verify a business.

Please tell me how to apply the kml to the Google Places listing, or are you saying:

apply that kml (google code) to the main website itself??? RIght??

I am trying to get this right and let my programmer understand what we need to apply.

  Was it a new listing that you phone verified? May I ask what city was the business you verified in? What cities is the phone verification working in and which not?
  
  I live outside of the US and work with businesses in the US. was wondering if a proxy would help me with verifing the businesses easier.
  
  Phone verification can open up options that postcard verification cannot.

Make sure you add the citations to the 'additional info' area;
Ex.
Manta Listing; url
Insiderpages listing; url
merchantcircle listing; url

and so on...

Lets bump this for more comments. I have a big fish coming up this week and he is on page 3 of Google Places. I have done others but not anyone that far back. I am hoping that this will not be too hard for me. I already told him results could take up to 6 weeks to see.

I want to read more info . Please add.

  KML file is put onto the website
  
  search around for geositemapgenerator ( I am not allowed to add links )
  
  search around the internet, you will find all the information you need regarding KML files.
  
  Another consideration is google maps ( my maps ) and google hotpot, I guess you would need to find a way to find local people to add the business listing to their google hotpot / my maps, not sure how much notice is taken of IP addresses....... what I mean is that this could making outsourcing this task difficult , if the outsourcers are in a foreign country !

Backlink the business website. Also, send some backlinks to the citations you create (the top ones).

I am looking for information on how to list multiple sites and be able to get Google verified without physical offices in these areas?

  That is something that google does NOT allow.
  
  Helps cut down on the Place Pages SPAM - but I suspect you may already know that...

If I am not mistaken, you go into your youtube account and select the video to edit, and you place the marker in the location.
