Hi guys and girls.

Well it has been a few weeks since I bought the Bower Formula from John Durham. I have done a few twists on his ides but his ides is nothing but Genius.

I was 7 days of loosing my house. I literally had $50 to my name I was in deep ****!!

I made $20k in 14 days!!! An I owe this all to John. I started a state level directory in a particular niche and charged the businesses only $10pm to advertise. They jumped at the idea. The page hasn't even gone live as yet. Will be going live next week.

Now I know that I could have charged alot more than what I have, but the way I look at it is, sell lots at a lower price than sell less with a higher profit.

I also have some of the companies that are after web design and hosting.

So far setting up the business has cost me about $200 and it wont cost me much more than that.

Once the site is live I'll let you know the address.

If John says something whether you are a newbie or a vet. Shut up and listen. This guy knows his stuff and I owe him my life.

Big thanks John. If your ever in Australia drop me a line and I will buy you a beer or 10.

Cheers
Matt

Congratulations, Matt. You listed to someone who knew what he was talking about - but give yourself credit, too, for running with it!

    Good job!

    Nice work!

I owe John most of my success for getting me started over at the TMF. I also owe everyone here on the Warrior Forum, as well as everyone at the Telemarketing Forum for helping out too.

It's been a lot of fun too!

Alot jumped on board over the phone. But being a niche industry that I targeted word spread faster than I could make calls and clients were calling me.

There is 537 businesses in this niche in my state. I havent even got half of them as yet.

Mind you I had NEVER done telemarketing before. My background is in construction.

Im not trying to call you a liar... but just wondering... 537 businesses x $10 a piece is only 5 grand... did you do the rest of the 20 grand in upsells like web design etc?

Ha! My background is in construction and I had NO telemarketing experience until 2 months ago. I have not made $20k, but I am on my way!

How much are you charging for the listing?

I'm only charging $120 per year. I dont offer $10 pm but use that as i breakdown point. They will make more than that from only 1 new customer.

I'm only using this amount as I needed to get business quick. I could have easily charge $200+ per year but sales would have been slower.

I just hit the niche fast and hard. So if I get 80% of the 530 odd businesses that is $50+k from one site.

I charge them yearly. If a business cannot afford to pay $120 per years worth of advertising, they shouldn't be in business. Most of these businesses are making that from 1 client alone. let alone 1 per month.

If I were to charge them monthly I would make it $15 per month minimum! It just makes it a bit messy admin wise.

So what do you use to accept C.C. payments over the phone? My bank has a virtual portal where i can process cc in real time online.

How are you convincing them to advertise when the site isn't even up yet? Value for money. Telling them that it is a pre launch offer and the price will go up after the site goes live. And that any competitors which are in a broader niche charge $250 per year minimum. and have the facts to back it up. Be confident not cocky in your sale. sell cheap= sell more.

For example. Home depot, do you think that they make huge profits on each and every item. No they dont they sell cheap, sell lots and they make massive profits.

Give them the opportunity to get in on the ground level of this launch.

You are exactly right, thanks for the info.! I need to look deeper into CC options online beyond PayPal.

But as far as you not showing them any site, how are they trusting you actually HAVE a site? Or are you showing them the unfinished template?

Down here in Australia. When you register a domain name especially .com.au you have to provide you ABN (Australian Business Number) Which is easy enough to get. but links the domain to yourself. Reassure the client that when using either credit card or paypal that they are protected.

AS for CC I would speak to your bank and see what online cc processing they have available to you. It works out cheaper for me to process online through my bank than using Paypal. And it takes 5+days to get money out of my Paypal account.

For anyone that was wondering I am using Directory press from Premium Press as a plugin for wordpress.

It cost me the better part of $80 they do have an affiliate program but I wont post my link in here.

The manual that comes with it sucks, the videos helped me more. I spent a few days playing around with it to work it out, It is reasonably user friendly and supports quite a few merchant payment options.

This is amazing, well done mate!

Thinking of doing something similar myself, can I ask, how did you demonstrate value to the customer, if there were going to be hundreds of other competitors in the same directory with them?

Hey Positive, Most of my clients spend many times the money in Yellow competing with other businesses in their niches. I have since set up another 2 niche directories.

My advice would be to grab your domain and build a website with just a couple of example businesses from your niche on it (1 Featured and 1 regular listing) Then do a seo campaign to get you on the first page of google (obviously the higher the better). Try and get an exact match domain name but make sure there is enough searches for it.

It is alot easier to sell on a very high ranking site than something that is ranking on page 2 or worse.

I Suppose that a state level directory works pretty much the same as a local website. To my experience the traffic is too low for any given niche to base a directory on. So I don't really understand how you plan on delivering them any benefits.

It is one thing to sell and a whole other thing to deliver any value. I wonder if your clients take you up on your offer for the next year.

If I had to go this route. I would make small very targeted niche and local websites and sell advertising space on the sites to local businesses for a bigger chunck of money.

A website getting 1k uniques per month with only one advertiser has a bettre chance of getting them new customers that a directory full of the same kind of business that gets 2-3k uniques per month.

You have to think out of the box once in a while. The niche's that I choose all have high value customers, Even one new customer is worth many times of what they pay for advertising. Yes there are alot of niches that aren't wasting your time on. But there are some very good ones if you look hard enough or in the right spot. Now there are 11 different regions in my state, so for my main keyword there is 4000 unique searches but if you go into the regional unique searches the total uniques per month is over 12,000.

Hi my name is David Weinberg. I am the owner of Wallpaper Depot in South Bend Indiana. I have to jump in on this one and tell you a funny story. John Durham managed my retail store a few years ago when the market was really bad. I thought I was going to have to lay off 2 of 3 employees. John said "No. we dont have to lay them off", and he went to a back room and set up a couple of computers with auto dialers, and took some cash out of the drawer and went out and came back with some headsets. Then with my own eyes I watched him sit at a card table and start cold calling insurance companies on this auto dialer, which was amazing to me by itself. This is no lie, within 24 hours of that I watched him close two insurance companies on the phone, while he was sitting across from me the whole time closing and pointing to the phone! I couldnt believe it. One gave him a credit card order for $750, and the other Gave him a credit card for $1,350. in the very same afternoon. I processed the credit cards through my own store merchant account. Next, he took my two employees and sat them down at the computers and instead of laying them off he taught them how to set appointments on the phone, and they did that for six weeks until the store picked back up and they never missed a paycheck, it even paid the store clerk who wasnt on the phone. This guy I ghave know foever, and it never ceases to amaze me. John is not playing when it comes to the phone. If he tells you appointment setting works. He told me that too. Then he showed me. If you think this post isnt real, check my IP or call my store and talk to my clerk. John is the real deal. I know everyone else is saying that, but I want to say it myself.

            Word to the wise.

"Good thing you dont have to imagine it".

    Dont strain your mind.

Its easy enough to go apply for a job in ATT's phone room, or the yellowbook 360, they are always hiring new telemarketers... THEN, on your first day of work you will see 100 people sitting on the phone doing exactly what mattie is talking about all day long....

BTW, its called a "prelaunch"... when you sell something that doesnt exist yet. People do it everyday. The WF has their own terms for it, but they didnt invent it, and it used to mean something totally different... Amway did it with "quickstar" and presold thousands of people before the site was up... its normal business.

Question Bkat- How many dials have you made in each niche?

No matter what niche you are in... no matter what product you sell, much smarter people than you or I jumped on it first.

Yet, EVERYONE who succeeds faces the same challenge. and there are always those who succeed, and there are always those who dont, no matter what the market conditions.

Once I said to my boss "I need fresh leads"... and he said "Call back over your leads from last week".

The ones who didnt answer may answer, the ones who didnt have time to talk may be in a splendid mood today... the one who didnt believe he needed a website last week may say "Hey Im glad you called back because I have thought about that...".

Im not saying this in a condescending tone BTW, sometimes those are percieved in print when they are not meant that way... This is more caring and understanding...

Bkat, Im saving you from the ABSOLUTE NUMBER ONE TEXT BOOK REASON that people do not succeed.

That is: "The Market Is Burnt Out".

People say that in a call center (and I am going to directly address your question in a moment) and I always say "Bob is using the same list...and he has made good sales all week".

      And guess what?

      Its true.

The sale is made in the mind of the sales man.

Let me say another thing... If a huge corperation moved into town, and they wanted to take over the other huge corporations market... They would just start doing it... and they would get all the sales they wanted.

You can get all the sales you want, no matter how healthy the market is... Yes, competition means the market is healthy.

Its not wise to compete, unless you plan to beat your competition...but you can make all the sales you want without competing.

They arent reaching the same people you are on any given day, and if they have then So what? "Next"?

All I care about is finding the guy that is going to say yes to "me", and he is ALWAYS out there... How many numbers are we willing to go through to get to him?

Do I care? I make $1,000 just for uncovering him...and I get better at it everyday that I call... If it takes me all week long of calling forty straight hours just to find 3 of him, i made $3,000 for 40 hours.

I can help you with this: The belief that he (your customer) DOES exist. I can promise you that. No matter how it seems like the market is saturated....No matter what the competition. People will respond to you who wont respond to the competitions caller... for one reason or another. So as far as belief, "Yes, your customers are out there".

Now Question: How far are you willing to go to find them? If its only 50 calls per niche.... you may get lucky, but if its a consistent 200 calls per day... then you will ABSOLUTELY find those guys.

Last note, if you feel your area is saturated, then JV with someone from a different area, set their appointments and split the sales.

Where there is a will there is always a way.

      Hope this helps!

The sale is made in the mind of the sales man.

        ...

You said it perfectly! I've been saying this for years (but I just found WF last month lol)

To those that contend the "market is dead." Just as John states, I can guarantee you that that list you claim is "dead" still has leads/appointments/sales on it. Why? Because I think it does and I'm willing to dial them again and again until I find them. So either get your head out of your butt and do it yourself, or find someone that will do it for you.

There is no need, no room, no excuse to say that you can't find a sale. You are the only limit to your income.

    Cheers
    Matt
