Online Project Management Software recommendations>

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can recommend some project management software programs?

Some look good, some look bad, and everything in between. I mainly want to track the tasks for each project and keep my VA on task too...and also keep me focused.

This one has caught my attention because its cheaper per month than the others, but still seems to have some good features: projectbubble.com. - Has anyone ever used it? But really, they are all so expensive.

I think some people use Google docs, but can you really do that effectively?

      I used to use google docs for my assistants since we could both read the same doc and I would just add tasks with priority levels in for them. Cheap and effective. As I am writing this I am thinking why do I keep looking for something better.

      Worketc.com seems pretty cool as an all in one tool but currently they don't have recurring billing with paypal which kind of kills it as a tool for an offline business. It looks promising for the future though.

    I use Microsoft Project - but of course that is the HIGH end. In my free ebook from my link below I briefly go over open project - OpenProj | Serena Open Source and Hosted Project Management Software . This is not the same as the high end but it can handle WBS, GANTT and other aspects tracking time and cost as well as import MS Project files. If you are working on Macintosh OmniPlan is really cool as well.

    One that is a little tricky to get up and running but is TOTALLY free and works as a hosted project management is PHProjekt. If you know how to get a PHP script installed it works pretty well, I use that to collaborate with my clients on simple milestones and goals.

    Other than that, I would agree that the people who offer Basecamp have some pretty cool tools.

    I've tried them all. activeCollab - Project Management and Collaboration Tool is my favorite in terms of cost to productivity. The main reason I like it so much is that my clients love them. I manage clients and developers at the same time and its very easy to use.

    I use Collabtive - Open Source collaboration

    It's opensource, so it won't cost you any cash. However, if you are inexperienced with installing/setting up scripts on your server, it could cost you some time. There is a support forum, but I haven't used it, so I can't tell you if the forum is helpful or not.

    The only thing I don't like about collabtive is the lack of support for task list templates. So, every time you start a new project, you have to add each task individually. This can get old very quick especially if you have a lot of clients.

    Basecamp is the best paid solution in my opinion, but if you want to save some cash, check out collabtive.

    You may find yourself better off with an integrated solution, often bare bone project management systems require lots of integration or high costs.

    Under an application that combines multiple aspects of business management you'd be able to manage projects, tasks, clients, events, and even pay your VA and collaborate with him/her through the same system.

    If you look at WORKetc, it's a prime example of how these systems work. It combines project management features with other tools so that you would be able to handle all projects, to-dos, events, reminders, expenses, gantt projects, collaboration, and expenses - while also being able to invoice and be invoiced so that you can effectively collaborate and pay your VA (if you wanted to). These types of systems are gaining steam, but a google search can also help you out.

      Yes Basecamp is very good and cheap. It's actually the most popular (base from Alexa rankings) and the most used by many people. There are also other popular software like Zoho Projects, Deskaway, Central Desktop and Freshbooks.

      It speaks of the various project management software and a short review. It also has a comparison table which checks if a software has this function or not. Such functions include time tracking, email activity reports, Google docs integration, etc.

        Google docs - no, it is not that good compared to other software packages. I use a project management software package called Latitude and it works perfectly fine for me and my team. Its features and functions satisfy my needs to complete a project on time and on budget.

      BaseCamp sends too many emails!!

      Trello.com is FREE and so is TeamViewer.com for up to 25 people and webex.com is FREE for up to 3 people.

    I hate basecamp... always have. It's so bloated and you spend more time on project management and learning the platform than you do with other solutions.

    I used to use collabtive installed on my own server and it was okay. I liked it enough but to really get the most out of it I would have had to really code in some extras. Now, I use TeamWork Project Management... www.teamworkpm.net

    Trello works well for me, I use it as a CRM as well. Can "move" leads across different stages of the pipeline.

    Yeah hate Basecamp. I've paid for almost every single ProjMan solution out there. In my opinion, Wrike is the very, very best by far. It is simply awesome.

    But...lately I have been checking out the Zoho suite more and more. Their ProjMan solution is very good and easy to use. Even better, all their tools connect so CRM, Projects, Accounting, Email, Marketing, Payments, and Password management is all in one place.

    Until last year, Zoho was a low quality solution hacked together and I ignored it. Now, it is a serious suite of tools with high quality features.

    I have not used any of these yet, but here are some alternatives I found when looking for cheaper alternatives a little while ago:

    Monitoring of workforce, telecommuting, outsourcing, projects and tasks, hourly pay, project management Transparent Business
    Accurate Time Tracking Software | Time Doctor
    Free Time Tracking Software - Klok Free and Klok Pro

    I realize two of these are mostly for time tracking, but think that Transparent Business shows some promise with its screen capturing feature. Besides, the first 5 users are free so there's no cost to give it a try.

    Our team currently uses https://www.activecollab.com also mentioned by Massivemarketing. It works well for us, but then again we have developers who can alter it to fit our needs.
