I need to outsource local SEO - but who?

Hey guys,

I have a client who runs a mobile salon in my home town. I want to get her listed #1 in Google (or at least top 3) for the business listings (maps) and organically if possible.

She has a static website, with little content other than services, about, contact etc.

Any suggestions on who to outsource the SEO to? I really don't know who to hire!

I have to be careful not to get her site into Google sandbox or anything like that, so I am kinda weary of some of these cheap services.

Any suggestions?

    • Getting her organic rankings is going to be pretty straight-forward, do the standard onpage optimization (keyword in title/domain or URL/header/sprinkled throughout the content) and then just get dofollow backlinks. Don't waste your time with nofollow, unless you're worried that your link profile could look unnatural. No matter how many links you throw at her site, it won't get "sandboxed" or any penalty for it.

Getting her business listing to rise is a completely different game, not as easy as throwing some links at it. It is part of the recipe but definitely not the whole picture. You're going to need difficult stuff like citations, reviews, business directory listings and several other stuff. On that field I won't be of much help to you since I never looked into google places that deeply.

These guys helped me out with my SEO needs, I don't think they will guaranty you a top three listing on google, but they can definitely help you get to the first page.

Google "your town local SEO" and call the companies on the top of the listings. (In my town that's me)

    1. Choose the keywords you want to target with good search volume, and lesser competition. Under 30k ( competition )should not be hard, depending.

    2. Find the company who holds the #1, 2, or 3 spot. Judge by that how fierce your competition may be. Getting spot #4 or 5 isn't bad either.

    3. Research and back-track all of their external links, and make a list of all the sites they are on.

    4. Go to ODesk or Elance and post a job for someone to write articles/posts and submit to everyone of those sites, and MORE high PR blogs, etc. Give the job to the lowest bidder with the best reviews!

    5. Charge your customer 5 - 10 times ( or whatever ) the outsource worker is charging you. And collect at least half down.

That's exactly what needs to be done, but just to add a tiny bit, research competitor links but also add in your own mix of links from high ranking legitimate and natural sources (or make it look like that to google so the site sticks to the top for longer with less efforts), any links from sites that are instructional or directional in nature but are also relevant to the services a salon/mobile salon can offer or even just relevant to the locality, are the best links and will soar past search engine competitors.

Its reasonably feasible to obtain at least a top 3 maps listing by analysing competitors yet again and adding more natural context, links, reviews and keywords, to finish things off nicely have multiple results of your clients site on page 1 by using the same methods with good on page SEO and we are onto a winner.

What is her budget per a month? What keywords do you want to rank for? What town is she in? I can do both for small monthly fee initially and then it will go up once the site is in top 5 for search rankings, should be able to get to the top though depending on her keywords. Probably best to just have me do a landing page that leads to her site and you can help her iron out her own site. It's cheaper this way too.
