WP Theme with Portfolio/Gallery?

I'm looking for recommendations on a WP theme (free, if possible) that would be good for showing photos of work -- specifically, remodeling work, "before" & "after" photos.

Not sure if that would be considered a "gallery" or "portfolio" feature.

My client is a general contractor. The photos will do a lot to sell his services, so I want them to be nicely presented, without taking too much time to load, etc.

Any suggestions?

    Hey Bonnie,

    I don't have any particular favorite portfolio/gallery themes - but use the nextgen gallery plugin on most wp sites that I've done, and you can find some great portfolio/gallery themes at themeforest for only $30 - $40.

    AFAIK, there's no such thing out of the box

    You must edit the image individually, then upload it back to back

    And btw, you may or may not use nextgen gallery, but you should also install jquery colorbox plugin. Very cool

    Try woo themes and then search for the portfoliio ones they really have some nice themes!

    I too spent alot of time finding an easy solution. I also have almost all the woothemes which are great. But I still use the nextgen plugin with NextGEN Smooth Gallery plugin.I was thinking of buying this plugin and trying it out since it looks pretty cool and cheap too ($12): Plugins - TS Display - Portfolio and Gallery Plugin - CodeCanyon

      I'm testing the jquery Colorbox plug-in with the WP Gallery function. It's not a fancy slider (wasn't really looking for that), but handles displaying a group of photos well.

      The site is still in progress, but you can see how I'm using it here:

      (Different subject) -- If you have the time to take a look, can someone please tell me how the page navigation menu up top looks in IE? Specifically, the drop-down menus? On my computer at home, with Firefox, they work great. At work (don't tell my boss), with IE 7, the drop-downs (for About Us, Services, Portfolio) disappear behind the header graphic -- not good!

      I really like the look of the theme, but form follows function, as they say. I don't want any glitches.

      Any suggestions?

    Best advice I can give you is go to themeforest.net it's an envato site...

    They have wordpress designs that are amazing quality...Tons of shortcodes built in, clean code for SEO purposes, etc... $30-40 will get you a site you can use for clients over and over!

    Cocomonio is a good example of one, click live preview and check out the portfolio tab on the preview site when you do so!

      Is the statement I highlighted above in bold true?

      I'm interested in using a theme from themeforest and I'm trying to understand the license terms. Taking the example of the Cocomonio theme, the single use license is $30, but the extended license is $1500. My understanding would be that you cannot use a single licensed theme over and over again as suggested. The themeforest website says
      "A simple way to figure out which license you need for your project is to ask yourself: Will my final product be sold to multiple people? If the answer is YES, then you'll probably need an extended license."
      Thus I would either buy multiple single licenses (one for each client) at $30 a pop, or buy the extended license if I had more than 50 clients wanting the same theme.

      Have I completely misunderstood the licensing?

    Believe me, I would if I could! But where I work, only the IT department installs anything, and I can't even get them to update IE -- no way they'll install a browser they're not familiar with (trust me, they are NOT familiar with anything other than IE) (can you tell I work for a government agency?).

    And that's kinda besides the point. My client's customers may be using IE, as well -- so I need his site to function properly regardless of the browser being used to access it.

    I really like the look of the Adventure Journal theme, though, and hope to find a solution to the IE glitch.

    The best deal I've seen for WordPress themes is $39 bux at ElegantThemes.com - for the price you get access to all the themes. And they are extremely well designed inside and out. The guy behind those themes is one of most highly respected designers out there today.
