Interesting use of QR codes

So I'm at the Home Depot yesterday buying some flowers to plant around the house, and I notice a lot of them have QR codes on their pots.

Out of curiosity, I scanned the QR code on one of the pots and it took me to a Home Depot mobile website that gives care information about that specific flower, such as how much light they need, when to water them, how far to space them apart, etc. There was also other planting tips as well as a video.

I thought that was pretty cool and I'm sure we'll start seeing a lot of manufacturers putting QR codes on their products to give you more information about them before you make a purchase.

So if you happen to know someone who's a manufacturer, this could open up a whole new business for you.

    I seen this as well. Its spring. Time to visit your local nurseries and garden shops and bring this valuable service to them as well.

    Just got my weekly Home Depot sales circular and they're smart to promote the QR codes there and instruct people how to use and benefit from them when shopping in the stores - and occasionally I'll see QRs in the advertisement itself.

    If anyone's selling QR services to other businesses, Home Depot is a great example to mention when showing off just what you can do with QR codes.

    I am in Seattle and the local business journal (bizjourmal.com), the Puget Sound Business Journal is starting to use them extensively for additional information options regarding articles and other postings. Biz Journals are in every city on the US.

    I work for a truck toolbox manufacturer - and all the major retailers are starting to implement QR Codes into the POP-product packaging (which I get to design! LOL) - and you are right.. they are primarily wanting the QR Codes to link to web pages about that product, care, install, and even videos.. very smart!!

    I also know that Lowe's is exclusively using MSTags - microsoft's version of QR Codes... and it looks like other major retailers are as well... so expect Microsoft to be a big player in the QR Code niche in the future... many of us will have to download a Tag Scanner AND a QR Code scanner!!!
