Postcards: How To Make It Work With A Tiny Budget

I've perused all the threads on discussions of postcards, but I have a question.

I have the last $50 in my pocket and want to generate my own leads for my facebook pages + text marketing services.

Having a lot of difficulty mustering the courage to cold-call. But I'd much rather warm-call prospects.

What is the probability of getting one to two clients from 100 carefully personalized postcards with a strong CTA, whose sole purpose is to "sell" the appointment, and a follow-up call?

If you do the research needed, ie. find businesses that need your services, look through the yellow pages for businesses already advertising, check online for businesses that dont have fb pages and visit with businesses that you actually use, then the chances of 1-2 clients per 100 is possible. I do this exact thing and average 10-17 per 100 so it is possible. The key is to find someone who can use your services and price it right. Do a bit of research and you can get all of the "warm calls" you can handle. Good luck in your venture.

If you are down to your last dollars, I would not recommend postcards.

I would follow potential clients that are advertising already and send them emails/cold call/ video email them. The cost just involves your time and you can reach more then 100 people.

Robitn4: If you are really down to your last 50 bucks, pm me and I'll arrange for you to have my offline product below for free.

It doesn't teach Facebook pages or text services marketing per se, but you can plug in those services just as easily as doing websites and seo....it will help you know who to target and what to say in the mailing, on the phone and in person.

And it's a great product too, trust me. Take him up on the offer before he changes his mind.

When I am trying to decide about a marketing method, I think about what it would feel like to be the prospect; so what would I feel like to get a postcard?

I don't think I would respond to a postcard. That's just my opinion.

There are other ways that are effective, you just have to find the method that fits your skills and personality, some people are outgoing, I am more introverted so I use methods that are more introverted.

            David,
Please, feel free to elaborate, if you can. I'm much the same way.

I've a odd combination of fear and things I'm ok with. I hesitate to call anyone, even people I know. Calling people I don't know, if there's the slightest chance of irritating them, brings me to the point of fainting. But I've met people in their homes and offices, and stood before groups, with nary a butterfly at all.

Working through the manual now, and yes, it is very, very good. The attention getters are something I'd seen in another WSO, but Bruce's package contains a ton more material.

Well hopefully you're not trying to sell prospects via the postcards. If you are really down to your last $50, i would way use that money to pay the light bill lol. (no just kidding!!)

Ok but seriously, the probability of generating 1-2 responses from your postcard may very well work, but it all depends on what your offer is and the list that your mailing. Are you looking to generate a lead via the postcard or are trying to close the sale via it. How much does your services cost?

The services are inexpensive relative to the return, by all accounts, and inexpensive just to test. Not trying to close the sale with a postcard!!! - the postcard is to sell them on calling me, or give me something to refer to if or when I followup call after the postcard.

Well that's good you're not trying to sell the product in your postcard. The same conventions of direct response still exist. Have a good headline, a good story, a good list, a good offer, and multiple means of response. I also think that you should mail more than 100 personalized postcards. A bare-bottoms mailing should be at least 1,000 pieces.

Your goal should be to 'close' with the postcard. (Even if you want them to call you!!!)

They may call you and ask a few questions, however, they should already be sold.

When I receive a post card that does'nt have a website url, then I will not even check it out. This is 2011 not 1911.

True, some customers are phone people, email or even fax people, you never know.

And yes, you should only expect a 2% response rate from your marketing campaign.

Not counting printing, a $50.00 budget at .28 cents per postcard may net you a response rate of 3.57 out of that 0% will buy.

Just to let you know...I am sending out 4000 postcards on Tuesday.

So, make sure your postcards are very Targeted!

Here is to your Health and Success!
