Renting Websites (Dentists In xxx .com)

Hey folks,

I have some questions regarding the website renting business model. I've registered a domain (Dentists in City.com) that receives 880 broad and 100 exact match a month. City isn't too large (180,000 people) but it's the best I can find so far.

Obviously the model revolves around getting the website in the top 3, and then contacting local dentists and advertising spots. How many spots are most people offering and how much are you charging per month? I was thinking about 1 spot at $500 / month, but I'm curious what other people are having success with.

How is it working for you as far as leads going to the offline client? Are they getting leads based on what you researched using your keyword?

I have setup a dentist site setup using the keyword "dentist city" (dentistcity.org) and have it ranking #1 right now. In the SERPs my site is #1 followed by Google 7 Places merged listings under my site. This keyword is suppose to get 240 exact searches a month based on Google Adwords Keyword Tool. I monitored the stats for a few months now to verify it and it typically gets about 60-70 unique visitors a month from that and variations of the keyword.

Now the question is how I should set up the site with a particular dentist so that when they click on that site the chance of them calling the dentist is high? Because right now I have set up a forwarding number on the site that goes to a local dentist so that I can track if the model really works and the client would get calls. But from what I've gathered like each month there is only 1-3 calls that get registered on the system from the 60-70 visitors to the site.

Is this good enough to start marketing the site to local dentists or maybe change up the site design to make it look like a real dentist website and not some sort of generic blog promoting a single dentist? Maybe then it will start converting better for the dentist as well.

How much success are you having with sales?

My sales strategy will be to direct mail / email them links to a video I will create with Jing advertising the benefits of the service. I'm not sure how I feel about cold calling yet haha.

I offer them the entire site to lease for between $197 to $400 per month.

Most of my clients have been with me for over 8 months since I offer them such an affordable solution.

90% of my Offline business is build on this strategy and this is the main service that I offer.

Yes, you should be offering the whole site to one client and not multiple. Multiple clients in a small area/city is likely not going to give enough results to justify several paid averts on the site.

Plus, you should try and make it look like that website belongs to an actual dentist, and not just a site some SEO guy made and is charging dentists to be there. You want the consumer to think that they are calling a legitimate business and not think that they just stumbled on some 'advertising portal' website.

It seems that your keywords all wrong, too. Or maybe I read it wrong. But it seems like the only traffic source you're counting is one keyword for the domain? There are a lot of keywords you could be going for and not just the one that you are speaking of with 100 results.

I am willing to bet there are many more hidden gems

      Krzysiek,

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try and grab as many keywords as I can of course.

The main phrase that I'm going for is DentistsInCity.com, simply because it gets a decent amount of traffic, appears to be very low competition, and I'll also have the advantage of long-tail exact match. From there I will try and rank for CityDentists, CityDental, etc.

      Am I doing it backwards?

I haven't started doing this yet, but I do have Dr. Dan's WSO which is excellent if you are looking for more details on how to do this effectively.

60-70 hits a month seems pretty decent. Unless Im missing something about search, very high percentage of those people would be looking for a dentist in some form or fashion. Maybe its something in the design that is making them not call? Do you have it set up as a review site or a directory site?
Also if there was a nice lead capture box like get this free report about 7 things you should know before choosing a dentist that could get some people to opt in. So dentist can get leads and establish relationship with those who are just looking for future reference Then the site becomes more valuable to a renter.

It is not exactly a review or directory site, but on the homepage I have a 600 word article of general information about if you need dental care in this "City" then choose "Denitst City" as your dentist, etc. I have a dentist info on a banner within the article several times of the one we selected to best choice for dental care in city.
