Webinar Experts Needed

Hey guys! Going to a meeting tomorrow with a client that wants a webinar system developed and promoted and moderated. I'm really excited about this opportunity and am really enjoying learning about all the possiblities.

So, to those of you who have put together webinars for clients - what are the top three things that I should know about putting together a webinar before going into something like this? any advice you would like to pass along to a very excited newbie?

I suggest you you grab a cheap WSO on the subject and do some quick reading.

I understand there is free webinar for smaller groups, and the standard most people use GoToWebinar which is good for up to 1000? users.

There;s always a fair percentages of no shows, it pays to record for later replays, sending a countdown series of reminder autoresponder messages pays off.

      i've heard/read that the no-shows can be 33% to 50%!

i saw one wso for $9 that sounded really great and i keep hearing the name Jason around the forum? who is that?

some of the questions floating in my head:

what's the best platform to use? i know gotowebinar is the most popular but are there some that are maybe more expensive but better in the long run?

i'm not sure if they want live video as well as the audio or if it will just be a slideshow - any platform better with video than another? i've seen telenect is good with that.

how long before the scheduled date should we start promoting? too long and they'll forget (even with reminder emails) and too short and we won't get enough signups (i'm assuming that one).

the webinar IS the product - but they are thinking about putting together a subscription site for regular webinars and info. would it be best for the first webinar to be free or is it okay to charge for it? i'm thinking if we give enough valuable info in the launch phase, it would be okay to charge for it.

No shows can be high so they will want to build a nice responsive list and be sure to have some enticing copy in the webinar invite.

Platform wise you have Gotowebinar and Webex which are the popular ones. I use Talk Fusion (Disclaimer: this is a Network Marketing company and I'm a rep) since the quality is just as good, its brandable, has unlimited users and is only $35/mo with other cool features.

How long? I'd say around 4 days out is probably a good time frame. As you mentioned there will be follow up emails and you should send probably 2 or 3 follow ups the day of. You can go out maybe even up to a week if you wanted.

If you are going to charge just be sure that it is a value rich event and under promise and over deliver. You can always do a free webinar and then sell a product (if they have one) at the end of it.

        Hope that helps

4 days only? how would i build up enough interest in such a short time?

initially i was thinking at least a month - but i understand the idea that if it's too far out, they'll forget and overbook their schedules.

can i build up awareness that quickly? the initial number of registrations they would like to see is about 1000.

Sorry, that is assuming that they already have a list.

There really are a number of factors
            - are they currently mailing their list regularly
            - how big is the list
            - how responsive has the list been in the past.
            - will they do things such as FB ads?
            - Do they have affiliates or partners?

I'm assuming that it must be quite big and quite responsive if they are looking for 1000 people on the webinar.
