Good to get a Bus. Reg. first off? SP or LLC?

I'm going to hit the shops any day now, I have a website just for some kind of business identity out there. But I wonder if it's also advantageous to get some sort of business name registered. And if so, would sole proprietorship or limited liability co. work better?

    Every state I've lived in (5) has required a DBA (Doing Business As) registration if sales are above x dollars.

    A DBA is also what banks use if you wish to accept payments under a business name which gives you credibility.

    SP, S-Corp, LLC etc... All have pros/cons and the best answer to that question will likely come from a Google search.
