WP Touch plugin or Mobiel site system for offline mobile sites?

Hi warriors,

I'm currently running wordpress on client sites and for the mobile version i've been using the Pro version of WP-Touch wordpress plugin. However, recently i got an email from an internet marketer promoting MobileSiteSystem - Create Killer Mobile Sites In Minutes. Obviously he's doing it as an affiliate, but it does look good. the only difference is that it's a script instead of a plugin.

is there an advantage to using scripts instead of plugins? or vise versa? Anybody's feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

I would probably buy Mobile Site System just for three reasons:

    - It is cheap
    - I can use it to create specific pages to use maybe in a client's campaign without having to add that page to my WP Site it also gives you the ability to customize the page so that's nice.
    - Because of the built-in QRCode functionality

Other than that I would still use the plugin. The main reason is because with Mobile Site System you'll have to create the whole site again. With the plugin you don't.

Imagine a business website you just developed for a client with at least 16 pages, you'll have to do them again in Mobile Site System, that's not the case with the plugin.

    Have a good one!!!

the direction you go when choosing a mobile web site depends who your target audience is - and what there expectations are... and what your own technical abilities and understanding of mobile web development is... for many they are just scratching the surface and running with the easiest solution regardless of its output and how it works on non smartphones

if you use that mobile site system dont expect many non smartphone users to have a nice experience! sites that rely heavily only javascript will tend to have problems functioning on non smartphones - additionally there could also be "wait" issues to load pages even on regular smartphones too... in many instances fancy features are a novelty factor, reminds me when everyone wanted 100% flash sites... give the client what they want but dont forget to advise them on things like non validation and the user experience of non smartphone users and how google looks at mobile sites...

from what i can see from wptouch you would not get an out of the box mobile business website solution... instead it appears to cater more for the blogging side of WP. Providing you with a list of posts instead of a proper navigation menu and click to call features, etc - if the client wants a blog thats mobile friendly then this would possibly be a great solution. i guess i will have to actually buy WPtouch and test it out to give a more detailed/accurate review but my comments are based on what it "looks" like it does from reviewing the site its been sold on... FYI it does appear you can make it look like a proper business orientated mobile website but from what i see it requires a little bit of extra technical ability which is beyond a lot of peoples know how or attention span.

in my opinion if you really want to offer the best solution for your clients you should be deploying a site that works equal well for both smartphone and non smartphone users - am seeing way too many wham bam thank you mam "overnight mobile experts" who in all honesty dont know what they are doing and are more concerned with making a quick dollar over providing quality work... but since its a relative new concept to some a lot of businesses owners have no clue if they are getting a good deal or not... there are some great WSOs with reviews that speak for themselves, in additional you will find some fantastic threads going on 30+ pages in length just search mobile and you will find them - its going to take time to find a suitable model that suits yours and your clients needs but researching is definitely an important factor in by book....

    hope that helps

at the moment i use my own framework to build mobile websites and apps. I have been involved in mobile for years going back to days of WAP and pre dot mobi - i love this stuff always have!

i apologize if i sound negative about certain scripts and such it just seems that a lot of these things have great potential but i find most leave me frustrated and with money wasted on a half baked development tool - that mobile site script you mentioned in your post could be a fantastic script if the developer had done a more through job but sadly he didnt... i dont doubt the output of it t will work well for some people and they will love it - for the price its certainly well worth a look and a handy tool to have in your mobile web dev toolkit
