"$555 A Day" whenever "I" want it!

Before I tell you about 2 of my many "Quick Cash" projects...where I can go out of my home and get local business people to write CHECKS TO ME...of $500 and more...any day......I'd like to give some background;

I've been an "ENTROOPENEER" (my word) .....most of my life. Relying on ME, MYSELF and I, for my income, in our "Capitalistic Society". I learned, early on that, if ...."IT" (my enjoyments and pleasures and assets...and FREEDOMS).... WERE TO BE....IT WOULD BE UP TO ME"!

So....as a young man with 2 babies and a "Scared" young wife (waay back in the 70's)....I "Ventured Forward"....into an "Unknown World" (to ME)....quit my "job" with a BIG Corp (General Electric) and 2 wks notice....and started my own business (Securitronics Corp)(a Burglar Alarm biz in the burbs of Chgo)...with $3,000.

A few years later...it was a BIG Success (17 employees) and I sold it and....told myself I would NEVER AGAIN do 2 things; 1) Have any employees or ...2) Wear a Tie...(except for weddings of funerals)!

And....since then....I've kept my pledge. Since then...I've been creating business programs and projects that do NOT take much more than $100 bucks to start and have been pretty successful with most all of them.

Mainly because I had a "Sixth-Sense" of what business people WANTED (and needed)

So....I've created MANY business projects from "scratch" (less than $100) that went on to be BIG Sellers.

2 of these I'd like to offer now. Not the "Whole enchilada"...but...just enough to "whet your whistle"....so YOU....can maybe see the potential and come to the realization that..."Hey! If THIS guy can do this...maybe I can too!"

So....thanks for bearing with me with the background. Here's 2 of my many programs I've been successful with. 2 programs that take a little time to make Samples on your puter...print out and go show local Business people how THEIR BUSINESS CARDS CAN BRING THEM .... MORE.... BUSINESS! and....be an INSPIRATION to you and put some Bucks in your pockets.

1) "KEEPER CARDS" - (See Photo below);
A regular Business Card on the front and....on the back are....Special Discounts from other local businesses (free to them) and will cause recipients of the Cards....to KEEP THEM....and USE THEM....to receive Special Discounts....for the next 12 months.

People receiving these Cards do NOT...throw them away!....they KEEP them! ....thus....benefiting the business person on the Front Side...with GUARANTEED EXPOSURE....for the next YEAR!

I have PROVED...over and over again that business people will pay "little Ol' Me"....$185 for 1,000 of THESE cards (I get em for $21/1M)

So...whenever I can use a "Quick and Easy $555"....I go out and show my Samples to local business people....tell them why THEIR Cards are "usually thrown away or used as toothpicks" and why MY Cards are KEPT. And, within an hour...I have 3 orders for $185 ($185 x 3 = $555)

If I continue for another 3 hours...I have at least TEN orders ($1,850) from a Simple concept. (ooops....you do have to go see a few local fast food places offering them a FREE method of getting THEIR business MORE CUSTOMERS!)

2) PHOTO CARDS - (see Photo Below)
This is another of my "Hot Flash" ideas that have paid me well over the years AND...helped local business people.

Here's how this one came about; I was at a Chamber of Comm lunch, sitting at a table with 5 other small business owners. The Topic that day was, "Small Business Promotion"
The speaker was a local printer and he was talking about various ways of using "Print" media (business cards, flyers, postcards...etc)...to promote your small business.

I happened to be sitting next to a guy who had a "House Painting" business. He gave me his business card and his Flyer. Well....his Flyer had some Photos of him doing various Painting Jobs. It was a well done Flyer and....I got one of my Hot Flashes;

I said; Hey! Why don't you put some of the photos of you IN ACTION... ON YOUR BUSINESS CARD?

He responded with; "Hey! I never thought of that! Could the photos FIT on my cards?"

Well....I told him I'd take a look and meet him in the morn for coffee.

So...I went home and on my home pc....created 3 columns on a business card space (2 by 3.5)....with the far right column for "Regular" biz info and the 2 left columns for 4 photos of him "In-Action" showing WHAT he does, so recipients can SEE...what he does....rather than just looking a some "Text"...(boring)...describing what he does.

I learned LONG AGO that a Picture is worth a Thousand words.

So....another "Low-Cost" business start-up...was started....from my home pc.

And...I discovered that business people WILL PAY $185/M for these "Photo" business cards.

Take a look below.

Thanks for reading....maybe I've provided some "Inspiration" to you. There is STILL...."HOPE" in our Great Country!

Don Alm....STILL getting "Hot Flashes"
#$555 a day

    Thanks for the strategies. For the Keepers Card, did you just go around and ask other local businesses if they wanted free advertisement on the back of some business cards? You have Taco Bell and some big name brands so I'm wondering how did you go about doing that part?

      Hi Don,

      I completely appreciate you graciously sharing these ideas for free here on WF. You have an innovative outside-the-box approach that too many others don't, and which I admire. You could take these ideas, and all your others, and create either one WSO or a series of WSOs that go into greater details, as to how you implement them. I know I would gladly be at the head of the line to buy, if you did.

      Congratulations on the success you have had and I wish you only more to come

              Apparently some of you skimmed over my post.

              I charge $185 for 1,000, 2 sided Business Cards that WILL BE KEPT by everyone receiving them!!!!

              And...when I go out selling these "FACE-TO-FACE"....I don't stop until I get THREE (3) sales at $185 each!...which usually takes me about an hour.

              I get the "sponsors" by "walking in cold"....showing the owner what I'm doing and get his Agreement to make a good Discount Offer.

              I started out by charging $85 per M....then moved to $125 per M...$165 and now...$185 per M.

              My printing source charges $28/M shipped to my customers.

              1) Find a printer who can do 12pt Cards, 2 sides.
              2) Make up a Sample (I use MS Pub and my inkjet printer
              3) Go see some fast food places and get them to agree to honor a special discount
              4) Go see some businesses....start out by charging $45/M....see how easy it is...then move your price up.....until you get to $185/M

              Don Alm...."Face-To-Face" sales pro

              Charge what is right for YOU! I've been doing Face-To-Face sales for years.

                So, did you just recently mark the price up again? Because on your site it says you get $249/M for these keeper cards...

                Great in theory, I'm thinking considerably more difficult in practice. And I've sold LOTS of ad space/print media.

                Not saying this can't be a profitable endeavor for someone that wants to get out there an hustle, but it's surely not as easy as it sounds.

                Well, so am I, lol.

                Last time I got a J.O.B., my new manager took me down to the nearest Mail America "post office" and I had to pay $70 for 500 black and white cards, one-sided. I did it because I did not want to start out too opinionated, lol.

                Don's idea is a no-brainer however, you WOULD HAVE TO put in some effort and actually TALK to people. Worth the effort? Only YOU can decide...

                  Hi Don,

                  I have been on this forum for over a year, and have bought many WSO's trying to make them work, it is so funny that I have learned and made more money from the Free information than all the paid wso's combined. This is Excellent, I used to sell custom business cards and got out of business due to competition from all the ebay and cheap card scams. This has ReSparked my business with the Keeper Cards, this is Great. Thanks so much for sharing.

                    Thanks for the good words.

                    Because I meet and hear about so many people "Hurting" financially these days (including 1 son who lost his job and about to lose his house)....I'm bringing up many of my "Quick Cash Concepts".

                    I've had ONE "J.O.B." in my life...where I had someone else signing my paychecks (General Elec Corp) and I've supported myself pretty well over the years....simply by "Paying Attention To What People Want!"

                    "Small Businesses" WANT "more business"...so I've pretty much concentrated on that area.

                    Reminds me....I should bring out my "Pizza Flyer Ads" program where I put Ads on a Flyer that is stuck on the top of every pizza box that goes out at local pizzerias.

                    Or....my "Pharmacy Bag" ad program where I put Ads of local businesses ON "Prescription Bags".

                    Both of these programs have to do with businesses (Pizzerias and Pharmacys)....HANDING my Ad Sheets to local residents.

                    2 businesses in my town just "laid off" 350 at the Logging Mill and 450 at the Cable Mfg Co....so there's gonna be some serious downgrading of other businesses here....when 800 families stop spending money.

      Thanks much. Also....I'm doing a small "Curiosity" Survey;

      I'm wondering if anyone reading this has ever seen;

      1) ADS on PRESCRIPTION BAGS - 8 to 12 ADS of local Doctor's Offices, Clinics, Chiropractors, Dentists...businesses appealing to people who get prescriptions filled at a pharmacy.

      2) ADS on PIZZA BOXES - 8 to 12 Ads of local businesses and professionals on an 8 1/2 by 11 Sheet, stuck on the top of Pizza Boxes.

      I'm curious whether these programs have been done in other areas of the country....where fellow Warriors live.

        As a marketing director of a restaurant chain, I used to get calls in Portland, Oregon from companies that offered ads on prescription bags in pharmacies across the Northwest. Never tried it, but it makes sense. I did try the ads on the back of grocery store receipts. They worked if the coupon offer was good, and if the restaurant was within a close distance from the grocery store.

        Don, I live just North of you in Eugene....

        (1) Pharmacy Bags, no haven't seen that.

        (2) Box-Top ads, seen those, but mostly from the franchise itself, like Pizza Hut coupons from Pizza Hut, etc.

        I live an hour away from you. Would be willing to drive to Roseburg one of these days for lunch to "geek out", or even consult if you do that for an hourly rate.

        I ask because I've always been fascinated by the "Val-Pac" concept, which the "Keeper Cards" appear to resemble, albeit with a twist.

        Would be willing to pay you for the "nuts and bolts" of this, as well as an agreement to operate outside your market.

        I have seen neither in Oklahoma. In both instances, any ads are for the company producing the pizza or the pharmacy. I remember that NFL great Fran Tarkenton made a fortune by putting ads on airline ticket envelopes.

      I don't think you understand the "Promotion" business. Insurance Salespeople, Auto Salespeople, Real Estate Sales people....pay for a Business Card.....they can hand out and.....their Cards are NOT thrown away!

      Why? Because there are VALUABLE Discount offers....on the back of the Cards. People receiving these Cards....KEEP THEM!....to take advantage of the "Special Discounts".

      Thus....business people who PAY ME for these Cards.....will BENEFIT by recipients APPRECIATING receiving them....and KEEPING them!

      This is how "Marketing and Promotion" works. Sometimes referred to as "Cross-Promotions".

        Also...in the "Spirit" of showing people how "simple Promotion" ideas can put bux in your pockets. I've attached a photo of one of my "Pharmacy Bags"...."Ads on Prescription Bags".

        Again....I ain't sellin' nuthin' here. Just tryin' to show some of the projects I've done....so folks can maybe get "motivated" or "inspired"....by some of the things I've done....to go out and make money in the "OFFLine" market.

        "My Stuff" has been mostly "print" stuff rather than "electronic" stuff. However....once you train your mind to "look for Promotion Ideas"....you can apply that to the "electronic" world.

              Re: UPselling to IM stuff;

              I've been very fortunate to have MANY promotions that were.... WINNERS!

              So....when I contact any of my "Print-Promotion" customers....looking to sell them a Spot on my "Town Mobile Site Directory".....they "TRUST" me.

              Same goes for "Website Creation" or SEO Stuff.

              AND....even if any Advertiser didn't like a program he participated in.... they STILL knew that they "Got What They Paid For!"

              Which is the Name of the Game!

      I think I get your question, and here's my answer....

      You'd target lotsa food places, auto-repair places (Like Oil Can Henry's) and such for the coupons.

      THEN.... You'd target "trades" (Like HVAC, Plumbing, Electricians, Lawyers, Chiros, Dentists, Etc) to actually SELL these cards too.

      The discounts offer VALUE to the recipient of the card, but NO conflict of interest because the markets advertised are "general" and the market that the card is being distributed to is specialized.

      Remember though, an idea is JUST AN IDEA until you put it into practise.

    Here's an interesting question for Don, and I don't know what the answer is:

    "What's better.....

    (a) Getting restaurants and such to place a coupon on the card for FREE with the idea that these coupons add VALUE to your cards. This VALUE is transferred to the business owner who buys their business cards from you in the form of "perceived" value from the recipient of said card and associating that value with the business owner who gave it to them (and not tossing card in circular file)?? And, of course, it's obvious what the value to the advertiser is.

    Or....

    (b) Getting a slew of local business to accept your business cards for free, and making money on the "advertiser end" by charging some kind of fee for the ad space?

    I'd think option "b" would devalue it in the eyes of the business owner, which is the distribution channel; but what's your take?

    I'm familiar with the "Val-Pac" model which charges advertisers, but NOT the other way around.

    Okay, I never did this but check this out.....

    When I was in high school we had "off-campus" lunch which meant that for lunch period, we were allowed to roam the town, visiting many a fast food place.

    So, usually during the first week of the year or so, our "home room" teachers distributed what were called "super-savr" cards which were nothing more than double sided business cards with coupons on both sides.

    Found out later that these were basically an advertising company who "got an in" with the school district to distribute these cards to the students.

    On the other end, they charged all the local restaurants in the area a fee to have a special on the card.

    As students, we planned lunches via these cards.

    So this is an idea, as I don't see it done much.

    Sell advertising on card > get them distributed among students, university or high school.

    Not a new idea, but a good one.

    1) "KEEPER CARDS" - (See Photo below);

    I happened to be sitting next to a guy who had a "House Painting" business. He gave me his business card and his Flyer. Well....his Flyer had some Photos of him doing various Painting Jobs. It was a well done Flyer and....I got one of my Hot Flashes;

    Hello Midasman09,

      I PUT IN THE "SLAVE LABOR'! I do NOT want to just..."give it away' in a sentence or 2.

      ALL...I am looking to do HERE....is provide some EXAMPLES....of how "I'VE" been able to....."write MY OWN PAYCHECKS"....and....possibly....Provide some INSPIRATION....and maybe....MOTIVATION....as to HOW I got my ideas and put them together....to SHOW....YOU....and others....WHAT...is possible.

      I'm a bit confused... What's in it for the pizza company stapling these business cards to their pizza boxes or the chinese delivery place stapling these cards on their bags? Do you pay them .05c everytime they staple the card to their boxes or bags? Is it even worth it to them considering how many times they have to reload the staple gun to staple 1000 cards to a pizza box to make $50 per 1000 cards that go out?

      Also, let's say you are stapling these cards on the pizza box, the discounts on the back of business card are no doubt some will be from food places, so that's a conflict of interest for the pizza place stapling the cards to their box so it would not make sense for them to do it....right?

      What are some ways to distribute these cards maybe we should talk about that? Dentist bags are a good idea because there will be no conflict of interest but the volume is too low. Any ideas?

        Yes,

        you are confused, lol. What Don is talking about is 4 different biz ideas.

        1 Keepercards - where you get a food place to offer something at a discount. The biz cards are then sold to a biz other than the food place and because of the offer, the recipient of the card keeps it because of the perceived value. You do not charge the food place anything, only the buyer of the cards.

        2 Photo cards - where you sell the biz cards to the painter, etc. and place 1-4 photos of his biz on the front, nothing on the back (unless you would like to add another twist to it).

        3 Pharmacy bags - where you sell advertising on the bags to local biz and give the bags for FREE to the pharmacy. Figure you got to go with about 10,000 bags in 1-2 different sizes. Go visit your local pharmacies, ask for an empty bag, figure out if they are independently owned, and go for it.

        4 Pizza box top flyers - yes, flyers, not biz cards. You supply the pizza place with FREE flyers, make 2-3 coupons for them on the flyer that stands out, surround it with ads from local biz and charge them for their ads. Figure you need 5,000-10,000 flyers. Independent pizza places will make it easier for you to find an owner who would like to accept your flyers, in FULL color with a nice, professional looking design.

        I've read on another forum about doing flyers for chinese restaurants instead of pizza. Only your imagination will be your restriction, lol.

        Hope that clarifies, Eva

    Ok, so what your saying is you put a special deal together like pizza hut down the street is giving 20% off with this business card, then go to an insurance agent and tell them I will make you business cards with this offer on the back so people keep the card and you pay me for the cost of the biz card.

    That's a good idea but most people have business cards or will be price conscience and compare other business card makers to yours.

    What I think is smart is to create multiple deals on one side of a card, find someone that sells something in volume which you can attach it to. Let's say Chinese for bag. If they agree I would write a contract up to give me tue exclusive rights and pay them .05c each so 50 bucks per 1000. Also I will get concete numbers from this Chinese food delivery store like they deliver 50 bags a day.

    So now I can go around to companies like an insurance agent and tell him listen I have a biz card attached to the town chinese food delivery bags with multipe promotions on the back so there is an incentive to not throw them out. The front of the business card per 1000 will cost you ... $195.

    It's not much but after printing and paying the Chinese food delivery your netting over $100.

    So once you get the DEals on the back of the card and the contracts with these deliver plAces you can build a clientele of advertisers and it will be building a long term steady business... The only problem is the deals on the back of the business card will be food places so its competing with the chinese delivery place....What do you think?

      That's a good idea but most people have business cards or will be price conscience and compare other business card makers to yours. I doubt that an insurance agent or other will take the time out of their day to solicit eateries, design and print a contract, design the card and have the software do so with it, then spend more time finding a good price printer, place their order, pick it up, go back to the eatery, now that owner is out so they got to go back, etc. etc,. etc. But I guess, to each his or her own.

      Personally, I would not want to deal with that insurance agent anyway.

If I were an insurance agent or any other biz, FORGET IT!

      Whatever YOU think to do;
      1) Make up a Sample
      and
      2) Go SHOW it to some prospects

      Your potential customers will tell you....whether they will;
      a) pay for your program
      or
      b) pay what YOU want them to pay
      and
      c) keep testing until you find a price YOU are happy with

    I like these ideas. I think it would do very well in most areas. I think ultimately your main goal in all four ideas is to force the customer to keep the information because it holds value. Take the pizza box idea. All parties should find something of value with the pizza topper. The customer buying the pizza should want to rip that topper off the pizza box and stick it by their phone or on the refrigerator. The local businesses advertising on your pizza topper are getting value because there names and information are being seen by hundreds of people. The local pizza business gets value because their business name, phone number and address is at the top of the topper. And finally you get value because those local businesses paying you to put their information on your ad. Sounds like the pizza topper idea is a win-win for everybody. Thanks 0P!
