If you're specifically asking about the part of the link that discusses the payment system for bus fares, I have my reservations.
    1. I think this type of thing could be done without additional hardware for the end user. There would need to be hardware for the buses. In my opinion, the companies should use something similar to the Bump App. This would make the technology available more quickly, and it would be more convenient to the end user. It would not make it necessary to buy a new phone with the new hardware installed.
    2. In my experience, at least around where I live (which is full of people who don't like change), people don't trust technology that has access to their money. They hear too many horror stories about stolen identities and eavesdropping on mobile phones. This could also be worked out by having a specific account (similar to paypal) wherein money could be placed for the specific purpose of paying for these fares.
I have been researching the idea of a payment system where a person could scan an object and instantly pay for it, but I'm not sure it's gonna work right now. Remember, it took a few years before enough people trusted PayPal to use it. Only with the advent of eBay, did PayPal finally come into its own.
