Quick question about tracking Leads...

Hi guys,

This may be a silly question with a very obvious answer, so I apologise in advance if it is!

My question is...

How can you track a lead (through an opt in form) from its traffic source?

Basically, I want to set up an Adwords campaign, and track how many leads I achieve from the adwords campaign.

I'm assuming you can do this through Google Analytics?? But I have no idea how? To expand it slightly, can you track where ALL the leads have come from? (ie organic listings, links from other websites, etc)

I asked this question on another forum and peeps suggested using SalesForce, but ideally would love to put this in place as cheaply as possible (ie free!).

Please help!

Thanks guys, really appreciate it,

JSTEF

The way I would go about this is to set up a separate landing page for the Google Adwords campaign and then create a separate AWeber opt-in form just from that campaign. This will allow you to create a specific offer on the landing page that relates to the Ad you are running and will also allow you to track just the leads that come in from that campaign in AWeber.

As for SalesForce, check out their ContactManager solution-- they are currently running a special for $2 a month, which is 60% off their normal price of $5 a month. Even at $5 a month, SalesForce will more than pay for itself just by the organization that you will have. If you are making more than 10 calls a day (which you should be doing at least twice that if you want to be successful in sales), SalesForce is well worth the tiny investment.

    Great stuff! Thanks Ben!

I suppose that would be the easiest way to go about it... to completely segregate the adwords campaign (and traffic) from the rest of my site.

So however many leads my landing page gets, will be how many leads the adwords campaign has achieved - excellent!

JSTEF I got you on this one.

Here is the best way to do it. You can use google analytics but this is too broad. Here is what you do.

I would create a bit.yl link for where the capture page is. Send the traffic to this link and you will know exactly where all your traffic is coming from very easily.

    Hey GaryG4,

Yes I can see that you can track traffic easily through using a bit.ly link, but how would I be able to see which leads are from this traffic?

Im sure you can track traffic from an adwords campaign through GA anyway, all I want to do is figure out some way to track what leads come from that adwords campaign?

Or have I entirely misinterpreted what you're saying?
