Has anyone else noticed videos hosted on You Tube seem to be taking longer to start playing, I got 4 on one of my sites and people are saying theyre not playing and when I check they are taking way too long to start whether its on the site or on YT

Also whats the best way to optimise a video for mobile , when I watch some on mobile it says 'this is not optimised for mobile ' yet I can still watch it OK , not perfect.

    Youtube recently announced their figures on videos and they claim that they are now processing more new video every day than all of the major television networks in the U.S., EVER produced.

    Although they are running on Google's servers, I'm inclined to believe that there might be a little lag going on with that much video being processed.

    I encode my videos for mobile and iPhone as .mp4, 320x240, 29.9fps (remember the iPhone screen is only 320 wide in vertical mode)

    I only store some video on youtube, the rest, I store on my own site as most of them are rewards for actions such as Liking us on Facebook or signing up as a customer.

    I also keep archives of all videos in HD on DVD for both myself and my clients for future reference. These scale down nicely to other formats later on.

    Remember also that YouTube is NOT YET ready for .3Dm or .3Dv video even though 3D TV and phone units are now shipping. The market share isn't there, yet.
