The Real Deal Offline Series: I Don't Really Want To Outsource But...
All of us offliners know that we should be doing some form of prospecting each and every day, but when you have four or five clients or even one big client, it becomes very challenging to set aside the time to personally do your marketing activities every day.
The funny thing is, before I had multiple offline projects going, I dreamed of the day when I had money coming in each and every month from multiple clients and sources.
However, now that I have tons of websites that I'm managing, marketing campaigns that I've got going and clients that need following up with, I'm realizing that it's a difficult juggling act to maintain.
In fact, as a offliner, every day we have to wrestle the bull, so to speak.
Here's what I mean:
Do you spend the bulk of your time calling , emailing or scouring the local newspapers and magazines? Or do you spend the bulk of your time trying to service the four or five clients that you currently have?
See, I would love to set it up so that I only have to touch my client's marketing campaigns twice per month to check up and make sure that everything's still working.
However, the reality is that in the offline business, we have to constantly monitor our client's websites, lead gen campaigns, answer dozens of little questions that really matter to our clients and track a dozen other things in order to make sure our marketing campaigns are effective.
Even after years of managing my own marketing and sales team, on certain days I still find myself torn sometimes between servicing and prospecting.
That's why I now think it's best to outsource alot of the servicing, but at the same time, have your own inhouse team of sales staff that can execute several marketing campaigns at any given time while you work and close the leads and manage the support staff.
If you're like me, then you probably don't mind outsourcing all the online servicing stuff like video creation, article writing, backlink building etc., but when it comes to my prospecting and marketing campaigns, I tend to be a stickler for details so I need easy and immediate access to my salesteam.
How are you handling the balance between prospecting for new offline clients and servicing your existing ones?
