Alibaba ? I see this thread How To Make $584 A Week Selling LED Signs
by Martin Buckley. I have seen Alibaba mentioned a few times here. I was wondering some ideas a Newbie could use to make some extra income from Alibaba ? What are some ways to avoid being scammed ? Any help would be appreciated!

I know lots of people on eBay use it for their sourcing. The key to any retailing is to know what you can sell it for because the key to making money in retail is buying it at the right price.

Money can be made in retailing both online and offline but something like the LED sign in that thread just matched up well with what he was already doing.

If you can find a product that works well like that why not offer it? If you want to get into retailing that is a whole other beast.

Alibaba is the main source I use to sell wholesale and retail. You can find real manufacturer in Alibaba but you have to send the same letter to all available suppliers. I do this trick and put all information in excel. Normally real manufacturer offer you the cheapest price with shipping included.

    Hi agonce and catchtheniche,

Could you guys please expand a little more on how your business is organized, if it is possible? Do you sell on ebay? How quickly a lot like this could be realized-sold? And what would be the expected return after all your investments?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi dms321,

I sell them on ebay as well as re-sell to people offline who then go door to door and re-sell them for profit using the method here

Though, If anyone is interested, you would be able to buy from me too at those prices.

Alibaba is a good site to use to broker deals on. I usually post excess stock deals on there. Lots of overseas's buyers looking for a good deal. Just remember to check out buyers/sellers on there.

Becareful when using Alibaba. There a lots of scammers lurking around that website.

Make sure to do your research on the company before purchasing your stocks from alibaba.

For a double-safety net: Make sure the company accepts paypal or escrow. Western Union is a BIG NO !

I am a Top Rated Ebay Powerseller and my best advice when sourcing from china is to use dhgate.com as it has a feedback reputation service similar to ebay so you can see what the buyers think of the quallity etc of the items purchased.
Less chance of being burned with this inplace

I often import cheap MP4 players from Alibaba at about $30 each and sell them for around $50 on eBay. Good easy money.

All kinds of people are using Alibaba to make a ton of money. As everyone has mentioned you just need to find the right product and the right source.

I actually have a friend that works for a MASSIVE (100s of Millions in sales per year) exerciser equipment wholesaler who gets all their products from Alibaba. Of course they have been doing this for years and they have contracts with Walmart and most other large retail stores, but it just goes to show the possibilities.

Yep. Exercise gym equipment is something you can get very cheaply on Alibaba. I know someone who imports sit up devices for abs and sells them door-to-door. Makes a killing!
