Finally trying offline, need some quick pointers

Hey guys, I am not having much success online as it is. I want quick cash as I need to buy a car. I am finally going to try offline marketing after months of procastination. I will be offering mobile sites to local businesses.

1:I will be charging 50$ and 25$ monthly for the mobile sites, does this seem good? I want to get the most and the easiest sales possible.

2:I really dont want to step in the stores and try to sell, I will be making flyers, how can I just give it to the owner and leave quickly without much chit chat?

Thanks!

    Hey there.

The prices seem cheap, but if these mobile websites are really quick to put together, then I don't see any problem.

Chit chat is a good thing, even if you feel a bit uncomfortable at first. You should embrace the chit chat because it is there that you will generate more revenue and secure deals.

Handing flyers out is all well and good but if you really want to address your customers needs and get your sales message out, the best way to do it is verbally.

If you feel your going to be so uncomfortable that you could go to peices while talking to a business owner, maybe a mailshot might be a better bet.

    Either way, good luck

"You gotta give action to get action." I keep saying this. But people still want to take the easy way out.

Dropping off flyers is not going to be very effective. In my first civic election, I did a pamphlet drop. Walked door to door, had friends help out. That effort earned about a quarter of the number of votes needed to win a seat.

Now, of course, I think it's laughable that I thought a literature drop would be enough to win. Just like a flyer, it doesn't necessarily go anywhere but into the garbage can; it probably won't get to a qualified prospect, and only makes one offer: do you want this for that much $$?

Talking to people will get you fast results. Of course you'll get better at it the more you do: would you expect to be a world class soccer player, martial artist or painter just because you decided to "try it out" one day? How far would you go in any skill development if you dabbled in it for three days, and then decided it was "not for you"?? Offline selling, like any other skill, takes commitment and consistent effort to become good at.

Using interesting flyers to hand out to small business owners can be a great way to get a conversation going. Getting the conversation is the goal of your stop, not something to be avoided.

If you don't like speaking with them in person, use the telephone.

      Good Luck,

I find it interesting that so many people think that creating mobile websites is going to bring them fortune. It really is a lot of work. More so in finding the clients than creating the sites (at least for me). As stated earlier in this thread, just dropping off flyers usually will not get you too many clients. You have to really work at this.

As far as your prices - I agree they seem a little steep for just a mobile site. Once you create the site what is it that you are doing in order to earn the monthly recurring fee? I know there is a thought that you can host the site and charge the business for hosting but my clients are bit more savvy than that - $50/month for hosting is very expensive. Most clients don't have that many changes to their sites after creation so I'm not sure you could sell them on a "maintenance" plan.

Don't get me wrong - I think it is great if you can get this for your mobile site service. I'm just playing devil's advocate here so that you have these answers ready if and when your clients bring up these issues.

Ok - after reading my last post and then re-reading the header to this thread I realized that I didn't really give any pointers so I do apologize for that.

What I try to do is find services that my clients will be more than willing to pay for on a monthly basis, so I try to focus on FB Fan Pages (and maintaining them) and Google Places services. These are services that my clients do not have any desire to do themselves and are more than happy to hand over to someone who will do the work for them. I also try to sell them the mobile site but use it as an incentive at times to get them to sign up for my other services, so I'll toss that in for free when they give me a long term contract.
