- Social Media, build up some profiles, get some momentum moving so they at least have a presence that validates them.
- Video anyone? Show how easy it is to install Direct TV, what kind of channels are available.

And that's just to start, without getting creative... :-P

By writing about direct TV with the specific town names, of course. That way if folks search for

direct TV in Coolsville, TX

ideally, your site would pop up.

For local optimization and getting lead you can also do classified Ads on the local websites. Beside this social media could also be used and with the help of viral marketing you can get some handful leads.

Yup, I think Clarlkent covered pretty much everything you need to do to help them out get more leads. Google Places is a great place to start as they serve a local area and a proper listing well optimized can get you fron page of google in weeks humm well maybe months as your niche is competitive but from there is just expanding to the 4 must have, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and linkedin to build all your social media.

Also, while you are working on the methods above, you might consider Adwords for them as well if they have any money to spend on it. They could start getting leads ASAP while you do SEO work over time.

I'd go with some PPC, if it is in their budget. Or if you are making a large enough profit from the client maybe you could invest some it into paid traffic. For me, there's nothing more fast or effective.
