Help with SMS Pitch...

Need some advice from some Mobile/SMS experts... I have possibly 2 restaurant owners interested in mobile sites / sms marketing campaigns.. The one owner actually owns a chain of restaurants in South Africa..

I approached them on Linkedin stating that I am a new company looking for a new business and would like to offer them a complimentary 3 page mobile site.. I have these two that have given me all of their contact info and are waiting for me to call them back..

I am still new to the SMS game and trying to figure out how to pitch it.. I will probably charge what Areevaz is charging in his thread to start out..$235 set up and $250 per month which will cover 1000 txt messages...

Can anyone give me some examples of what has worked for them..

Thanks in advance!

Kim

You better make sure that they have some kind of SMS service over there in South Africa and how much it costs.... it took me quite some time to find a good SMS service here in Holland

    Rachelle,

That pricing point should vary on the amount of text, the set up free is all profit anyways as I use twilio and open vbx, so it cost $1 for the number for the month ($12 for the year). The set up fee depends on what they want really, the very first customer we had was for $99 set up. That price is the ultimate lowest for smaller restaurants, I mean really, it takes 10 minutes to set up.

We are in the works with clubs/bars who have the potential to have a thousand or more subscribers, and quick like, so , their monthly would be more. We do it on a amount of text for the monthly cost. Keeping in mind the charge for consulting.

We start as low as $47 for 750 (it cost us 1 cent per text (priced to beat our local top competitor who offers $47 for 500 to start), and go up. We pitch the idea around this "if you have 400 subscribers, and you send 5 text for the month (which is advised not to blast them), that is 2000 text for the month. You should go for our 2500 text plan, etc. etc.

Our very first SMS customer, asked for references, we had none, so we did his SMS plan super cheap. He owns a restaurant. He won't need as many texts as let's say the hottest nightclub in city.

Since we use the twilio openvbx, we can also have unlimited keywords, which is another selling point against our local competitor.

Also, this works like a charm, and since you build mobile sites, for our demo we have our mobile site come up on the end, and the domain name is telling them it can be their mobile site, and the first guy who clicked it loved it. It is an easy way to cross-sell the mobile site, without really doing any selling. Even if they are not interested with your foot in the door sms service, they may just take a mobile website :-D

I think if I had to deal with a chain, I would have individual set up fees for each chain, so they can run their own promotions?

Sounds like you got a good thing going so far, may I ask, how do you search in order to find Linked in people to connect with? every time I add someone, it tells me I must know them :-\

    Hey Ryan,

Thanks so much for your feedback.. As for Linkedin, I join groups, once your approved you can actually contact them via email.

In regard to Twilio, I was actually looking at Trumpia.. I know a few ppl that use them and are satisfied..

Also I have pitched them already on a free basic 3 page mobile site to get my foot in the door which has worked, but they only get it if they plan on allowing me to do the maintenance/changes and/or SMS campaign which I have to still pitch them on...

Would you be up for a Skype chat? if so add me: kimber9826

    Thanks again for your feedback!

What are the results your customers would hope to receive from your SMS service?

Restaurants probably want to use it to generate short term demand (ie. fill seats TONIGHT!). So what will the bump in their revenue be? How often do they plan to attempt this? Get them to calculate this additional revenue for you. This is the value of your service.

Then compare with the (low) cost of your service. Brain-dead easy decision to go ahead, right?

Thanks kaniganj... you would think it would be brain dead easy for the owner to understand, as long as it comes out of my mouth the right way..

But yes.. totally understand.. will have to ask what their main goals are, dead times, inflict the pain and try and close..

I think I will just have to talk to the mirror with my pitch before I actually speak to them tomorrow..

      thanks again for the feedback..
