Advice required for finding offline clients?

Hello Warriors,

I have secured a couple of offline clients but target for 2012 is to grow the business so that from 2013, I can work on it full time.

One of the obstacles that I am currently facing is that it is proving challenging to convinvce potential clients on investing in internet marketing activity especially if they are not already accustomed to spending money on marketing.

Clearly, one way would be to check is whether potential clients are advertising on yellow pages for instance?

However, I wondered whether they is/are tools/software available that I could use to identify potential clients spending money on any kind of marketing/advertising?

Any help, guidance or thoughts would be welcomed.

Thanking you in advance.

    ...your eyes?

Seriously. Just keep an eye out for companies spending money on advertising...see if that advertising is ineffective...and then approach them offering value.

Really not too hard to find clients.

    Cheers,

      Hi Dexx,

Perhaps a silly question, how can I judge whether their advertising is ineffective?

I look for the 3 things mostly:

        1) Convincing reason to buy from them instead of their competition

        2) A call to action TELLING me (or their ideal prospect) what to do next

        3) A method of tracking leads coming

If I don't see those things, I can pretty much guess that they have no idea what they are doing (i.e. blowing through money) and can proceed from there (offering them a piece of advice to drastically improve their profits--and get my foot in the door)

You can make a 6-figure income (even 7+ figures in time) just helping business improve their existing marketing

        Cheers,

        ~Dexx

That's true. These are indeed 3 crucial elements.
I have made search for "plastic surgeon london" and this is one of the advertisers: Norman Waterhouse

In my opinion this website doesn't really stand ou.. if I didn't search for a plasting surgeon, I would think they are lawyers... LOL

No call to action... and I am not sure if I did it right, however there's no Google Analytics installed on the website (I checked in the page source)...

Is there any way, how I can check, how much they spent on advertising?

Ask your prospects right up front:

"This might not be the case for you, but with many of the people who have become my clients, they were at first worried that online marketing wouldn't be valuable for them. What is your opinion?"

Have some good answers ready to counter common objections that they bring up. This way you deal with the problem up front. If it turns out that there's no way they will be receptive to what you have to offer, you find out early rather than after investing time and energy.

      That does make sense. Thanks.

    Hi Kamlesh,

A good tip to get started to an old friend......contact local web designers and offer your services for their clients. Most of them know the importance of SEO but either don’t know how to do it or don’t have the resources.

Offer to provide your services white label. Be open and explain how you get high search engine rankings and what you can do for them, how you provide monthly reports showing increase in rankings and increase in visitors to their clients sites to show them they’re getting maximum RoI, expect them to take a commission and offer it to them, say 30 to 40% GPM and ask to arrange a meeting with them to go through this in more detail.

If you can get a meeting that’s pretty much a done deal and you'll probably get a couple of trial sites, then when you pass......sit back and let them just give you work.

That what works for me at the mo.

Just don’t call too many in Milton Keynes

    Cheers

Chances are you already know people who need your services. Grab your cell phone and scroll through your contacts list, you'll be shocked how many names might pop up as possible red hot prospects that you're letting other consultants in this field cold call, or advertise to Most of the people web consultants cold call know someone who can offer the same or similar service the person just never thought of them as a possible client so they never marketed to them.... Don't make the same mistake. Market to your existing contacts of friends and family members, nothing wrong with that at all, just don't be crass about it, be helpful and professional and you'll get more than enough business and/or referrals fast.

My first prospect of 2012 came from a client and brother of my best friend... this guy who referred me to his friend was referred to me by my best friend (his brother) 2 years ago BECAUSE I went out of my way to tell my best friend to refer business. He would probably not have done if I didn't ask.

Also since you already have clients, contact them for referral business, just ask and/or offer them a special gift or discount etc for the referrals.

    Cheers
