Do Notaries Need a Website?

I was thinking... do notaries need a website?

Jesus I hope I've translated this well... notary or notary public? Sort of a lawyer anyway...

In my city, there is 400 exact searches for "notary TOWN" where town=my town, and there are only listings of notaries in my town...

But listings are easy to beat, no optimizations or anything... and I was thinking, since they work privately... what do you think?

Anyone had experience with this? Do they need "extra" traffic?

Well rarely do they work privately. They usually work in a lawfirm, or bank... Doesn't hurt to try...

Are you sure about that? I've heard differently...

My family is in law, and I know each of them have a law firm that has a notary. I know that every bank has a notary as well. Court houses have a notary. Even some real estate agencies have notaries.

For $5 to get something notarized at a bank, I don't think it is a niche that is very juicy. Would be happy if you proved me wrong though.

I've just checked with some people and it seems like notaries here in Croatia are very expensive. To get something noterized, you often have to pay several hundreds (in some cases thousands) of dollars.

I'm just wondering whether they work privately and their pay depends on the number of clients or not...

Edit: I guess I'll just have to find out

If that is the case go for it. I guess I should have assumed you were from croatia by your signature.

In my state, it is ILLEGAL to charge more than $1 for a notarized document. Most states have a limit, either free or up to $10. I can't imagine a notary would charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a simple witnessed signature, but I'm surprised by a lot of things overseas. If that is truly the case, then go for it.

Just to make sure though, maybe you should call a notary and ask them...

I've just found a price-list online. It seems that the system here works by "prizes" that notaries get, depending on the "points" that some work is pre-assigned.

            Here's what I've found:

            Uploaded with ImageShack.us

od kuna = from (kuna=croatian monetary value, and 1kuna=$0.2)
            do kuna= to kuna
            bodova= points

I guess some "work" has more points, some less, but if you convert those kunas into dollars, you find some really huge numbers! :S

Guess your family should move here in Croatia and open a million dollar notary business!;-)

    Just to expand on this....

Most UPS stores, post office, kinkos, even office max, have notaries on staff. Bank of america and other banks also do not charge for notarizing documents. If you aren't an account holder, then you pay anywhere from $5-10.

EDIT: The more profitable solution would be for YOU to become a notary, and then start your own website for after hours notary... Might make it worth it for you, otherwise I think it would be a waste.
