Entrepreneurs Take A Break!

I hope everyone is feeling refreshed after the Christmas & NY break! I have to admit, I'm feeling totally refreshed and I feel like my brain is firing on all cylinders again!

That got me thinking about the last year or so and the following occurred to me...

Each time over the last 12 months that I've had a complete break from business (of between 3-14 days) things have dramatically improved on my return.

So of the 3 breaks I took last year, looking back at my stats I'm actually able to see a really substantial spike in my sales figures immediately after my return. Aside from the black and white stats, from memory things just seemed better. Business just seemed easier!

I'm now realising that the rest and reflection time has had a far more powerful impact than I realised at the time! Thats benefit of hindsight.

Resting and taking a break from the rigours of your business is a common sense thing that we all know however, as entrepreneurs we can get so wrapped up in what we are doing that we totally forget to do it!

So another new years resolution has been added to the list for me, take more time to relax, reflect and return more focused than ever to kill it offline!

Hope everyone is having a good 2012 so far!!

I definitely agree with this one.

I think for us (IMers) we're SO overloaded with information we owe it to ourselves to step away from it all.

A blessing in disguise came to me over the holidays. My internet went out for the entire week...

While my first thought was to find the closest cliff and proceed to throw myself off of it.

I actually sat back and just started reading all of the books I had acquired and put on my to-do list...

Exactly what the doctor ordered, instead of learning the latest and greatest way to rank a website or whatever else I would have wasted my time on. I read books on building businesses and really getting clear of my goals and story.

Anywho, I hope everyone had a good holiday and ready to make 2012 your b****!!

lol... I like that your power had to go out to force you to take a break

But yeah, information overload is definite obstacle to be aware of!

And don't even get me started on the "War Room". I try to stay away from it You could lose years of your life reading the colossal amount of quality information in there :/

I definately agree with this one too lol During the festive season i take 3 weeks off to reflect and recharge my batteries. I also review my marketing strategies, what has worked, what hasn't worked, what to get rid of,what new marketing weapon to add.

        Thanks,

I was taking a "break" from Dec 23-Jan1 , as I was out of town and left my lap top at home purposely

I did not, however leave my cell! The day after xmas, I get a phone call from a potential client, and closed the deal while watching the kidos on their new scooters.

It is time to get it, 2012 is going to be a good year!

“Oh, there ain’t no rest for the IMer,
      Money don’t grow on trees.
      I got bills to pay,
      I got mouths to feed,
There ain’t nothing in this world for free.
      I know I can’t slow down,
      I can’t hold back,
Though you know, I wish I could.
Oh no there ain’t no rest for the IMer,
Until we close our eyes for good”.

    I completely agree.

I took most of December off because I needed some time to work on my business and not in my business. I managed to get a lot of things accomplished, but I was in the background resting and hanging out.

It's something that all of my mentors advised me to do, but I could never manage to pull it off until the end of last year.

It's amazing how recharged and excited I am now that I've had several weeks to get rested and refreshed.

    Thanks,

    Chris
