Question about Joomla

OFFLINE MARKETING

Have any of you offliners used Rocket Themes for a Joomla site ?

And has anybody tried building a Directory site with Joomla.

Yes, I have built quite a few sites using Rocket Themes. Great community and forum. I am using Rocket Theme templates on a regular basis for many of my offline clients. Clean look and feel.

I prefer WordPress for my directory sites.

Actually, I have built quite a few directory sites with joomla... one of which is a pretty major article directory.

Rocket Theme is great, of course there are a few issues when you really get deep into the code and for heavy customization but you get that no matter what.

Not sure if they have all the templates updated to 2.5 yet, but yeah you should be able to do whatever you want with joomla. Very flexible CMS.

  Actually I was the process of Experimenting on a Dental Domain. I have not touch for months.
  Than I was thinking it may be better to build a Directory site with Joomla when I started looking at the Theme's.
  
  This is the first time trying these types of sites. Any recomendations are appreciated.

Making a quick scan of Rocket Theme - the new Clarion Theme looks like a nice fit for a dental site. Back when I was building lots of Joomla sites, Rocket Theme was my favorite as far as a good community and support/learning group.

An easy way to get a handle on building these sites is to download the RocketLauncher: it is a Joomla installation package that installs Joomla as the demo
with all the demo content giving you a nice look and feel right off the bat. It comes free as part of the template package.

It's just a matter of changing out the pics, content, graphics, etc and you will have a ready to go site

Then you can use Firebug and start customizing graphics ,etc as you get more familiar with Joomla.

This is a short cut to start and will also show you how a lot of the modules and components are set up and the overall structure of building out a decent Joomla site.

If you are already familiar with Joomla then Rocket Theme is great for templates that you can easily customise or used advanced CSS if you want to.

Good support although sometimes you have to wait a while to get it in the forums!

I find you can build a better quality of site with RT Joomla templates as opposed to your bog standard "blog" style WP themes.
