Lead Generation Site Incentives For...

Hi Warrors,

What I have right now:
I wanted to share what I'm doing with lead generation sites for dentist and dermatologist.
I am making the sites look like it belongs to a local clinic, I will have a phone number that
I can forward to anyone. Both my sites are on top of page 1. Dentist site is #1.

The problem:
I wanted to see what kind of incentive offers I can put on the sites to get people to call up
the number for an appointment. For the Dentist, maybe 25% of first visit or free teeth
whitening kit. And how would that work with the actual clinic getting the leads?

Possible Solution:
They are not rented out yet so I was going to offer a clinic a free test run for two or three weeks with the offers. After that I will say, hey thanks for helping with the testing, btw would you like to keep getting the calls? ok then I was going to charge $350/mo but since we have a business relationship we can do it for $259/mo if we get set up today.

What do you guys think?...

You'd better make sure selling leads to dentists/dermatologists is legal in Texas (I am assuming since you are in Texas that is where your sites are based) before heading too far down this road.

As I understand, he is not taking comission from the leads, he only rents the site and I assume this legal everywhere.

After a second read, you are correct

In that case, I have done well with a $99 new patient special and also with a free teeth whitening for new patients (they have to get xrays and exam to qualify as new patients).

I have a couple of dentist sites that are #1 for their main keyword (same keyword as their domain) and 3 other related keywords also ranking on page #1.

Now I want to rent these sites out, but at first I wanted to test out what sort of conversions the sites would get as far as the number of visitors that land on the site and number of them actually calling the dentist.

So I wanted to setup a trial run and have my forwarding number on the site go to 1 local dentist that was not on page 1 for the various keywords, but doing Adwords. I just added a photo of the dentist and added his name in the header, but has my forwarding number and generic content on the homepage.

Now my qiestion since I just picked this dentist at random to feature on my site and he is not aware that I have his info on my site how can I offer a discounted first visit or free whitening on the site as a call to action when the actual dentist is not offfering such a deal? If I advertise something like that on my site (it being a strong call to action which would help me see how many people actually would call and get a sense of the numbers) and people actually did call during this test run and they bring up the special offer they see on my site for this dentist to the receptionist what then when gatekeeper tells them they aren't offering such deal? They will say where did you see this info, etc.?

So will this harm my opportunity then to get the site rented when a situation like this occurs?

Should I let that dental office know ahead of time I will feature their details on my site for a few weeks and if it would be OK to offer some incentive (like the discount or free whitening) on the site? And if they like the number of leads they get for that duration then it will be $XXX amount per month?

My whole premise here is to figure what sort of conversions the site will generate (as far phone calls to the dentistt office) before actually renting it out so when I do get a client on board I will already the site converts and no worries of dentist coming back to me saying they got no leads or only 1-2.

Any feedback on how to proceed with this?

I would contact them and ask permission to do a test. I would not use their information without their permission. So many people advise this and you are setting yourself up for a law suit. You might be breaking dental advertising regulations or they just might get their knickers in a knot because you are using their likeness without permission. Don't do it.

Also, be careful in how you position this. Dentists are not allowed to pay for leads in some states and they could get in big hot water for doing so. You don't come off as an expert if you approach them without knowing that.

Again, it depends on the state so you'll have to do some googling. One thing you can do is offer exclusive advertising on the site (rental) but not guarantee any kind of performance (this is for the states that don't allow paying for referrals).

In my layman's opinion it would be the dentist risking getting in trouble and not you but if you sound a lot more like an expert if you say:

'Mr. Dentist, I know it is illegal for you to remunerate me based upon performance so I can't offer you that..'

            rather than

'Mr. Dentist, is it legal for you to pay me for leads in your state?'

The first is much more powerful positioning.

So in your case, I'd find out the law in your state and then call the receptionist (assuming pay for performance in dentistry is not allowed..):

'Mrs. Receptionist, my name is Trance. I have some referrals I'd like to send your office over the next week or 2. I don't expect any money for them but I would like to work out some kind of longer term arrangement. When would be the best time to speak to Dr. xx about this?'
