SEO question for offliners

I work well SEO for local biz... always looking after the keyword with the "city" in the long tail..

But how to work for a costumer who wants to rank and sell not just for a local but for national area??

Does anyone can give me a clue on Keywords for that purpose?

    You have to go for the main keyword, or "keyword companies". But be ready to face serious work.

    For starters, you remove "city". Instead of saying, "plumbing company New York City", you have to go "plumbing company". Think of it this way, "If I don't care where the company is located and I just have to look for a company - what would I type in google?"
