Finding Prospects on Craigslist

I've heard of people having success with finding prospects on Craigslist, but in my area, it seems like virtually everyone would rather hire someone full time to do the internet marketing for them rather than pay a company for the service. I can't find a single soul who just wants "some SEO help" or whatever. Instead, every company on there seems to know exactly what needs to be done and already appears to have some degree of knowledge about internet marketing. I'm guessing it doesn't really make sense to approach these companies that want to just hire someone, but I could be wrong. Has anyone tried this?

The people that you are contacting are the DIY types and/or just want to control everything. They are not your target market.

Trust me...there are TONS of businesses/people that don't even know what SEO is or how google works. There are also plenty of folks that can be quickly educated about the benefits of your services, if they aren't already aware.

As long as we are able to manipulate our rankings in the search engines, SEO will be a viable, sought-after service.

Also remember - plenty of folks are fully capable of mowing their own grass, but they would still rather pay someone else to do it for them. Okay, that's laborious. How about filing their own tax return...easy, yet people continue to pay H&R Block ridiculous amounts of money every year for extremely basic returns.

In your case, as an independent contractor, your clients don't have to worry about the additional overhead and time required to train you. They don't have to purchase any new computers, software and/or office furniture/office space. They don't have to provide you with medical benefits or pay out any other additional costs associated with a full-time employee.

Sorry, I know it's not what you were asking.

I have a found a few clients from Craigslist, but they are usually people just starting out with a business or trying to start one. I haven't found a well established business searching on Craigslist for SEO, etc.

I would always check the Computer gigs, Web/Info Design and Marketing/PR/AD.

    Good luck...keep on keepin' on!

DO NOT advertise internet marketing on craigslist just go post an ad LOOKING for the service you are advertising yourself, WATCH how many responses you get from people trying to sell you internet marketing.

Go to another place. Try linkedin or facebook if anything. Initiate people, interact with them, build trust, offer your services.

You know it's possible to find seo clients on ebay. You will have to offer a lot of cheap services up front or at least lower then your competition. And be patient you can begin to build a nice clientele list if you persevere.

The key with ebay is to offer services that you can outsource to fiverr so you are not doing all of the work.

Once you get that out the way you're on your way....

I found few of them but most of them have tight budget..but it is good start point to have some relationship and asking for referral if they like your job.
